Summary of Thesis Results: Public diplomacy has become an effective tool because it helps expand relations between countries around the world. This is also consistent with the current trend of globalization. Most countries use public diplomacy as a supplementary tool to state diplomacy. Public diplomacy is the effort by a government to influence the public or leadership of another country in order to change that country's policies in its favor. The changing perception of power in international relations, what Joseph Nye calls "soft power," is playing an increasingly important role. Vietnam has had friendly relations with South Korea for 18 years, since 1992; however, it was only when South Korean films and television dramas appeared in Vietnam around 1998 that this relationship truly developed rapidly. Through films, cultural exchange programs, and educational exhibitions, we recognize many similarities between the two countries in terms of history, culture, education, etc. We have been influenced in many ways, both positively and negatively. Everywhere you look, you're flooded with images of beloved actors, cosmetics, phones, food, and fashion from Korea… even the content of some Vietnamese films and songs tends to resemble Korean styles. Why is this Korean wave so powerful? How has it influenced young people, especially Vietnamese students today? How do we respond to these influences? And what are our thoughts on Korea's methods of promoting culture and reaching the public abroad – a manifestation of modern public diplomacy? The thesis has achieved the following points: - Clarifying the basic concepts, development process, and role of public diplomacy in a nation's foreign relations; - Clarifying the development process of public diplomacy and the basic contents of South Korea's public diplomacy policy; - Analyzing South Korea's public diplomacy activities in Vietnam and their impact on Vietnamese students; - Synthesizing and drawing lessons for Vietnam's current foreign affairs work. 11. Practical application: Based on clarifying South Korea's public diplomacy policy, its implementation in Vietnam, and its impact on Vietnamese students, the thesis draws lessons for Vietnam's current foreign affairs work. 12. Future research directions: Changes in the South Korean government's public diplomacy policy to continue maintaining the Korean Wave in Asia and expanding to demanding markets such as the US and Europe. It is possible to compare and contrast the public diplomacy of the United States with that of South Korea. 13. Published works related to the thesis: none
