Summary of thesis results: This thesis is the result of research between parents and children with autism in families in Hanoi. The research results have provided insightful perspectives in the field of research and therapy for children with autism and help parents of children with autism communicate appropriately with their children. 1. The purpose of parental communication with children: Parents of children with autism, when talking and communicating with their children, aim to focus on the child, hoping for a change in the child or helping the child understand what is happening in life. These are the higher purposes that motivate parents to talk and communicate with their children. However, the father's communication purpose differs from that of the mother. The mother focuses more on the child, helping them understand what is happening in life and hoping for some kind of change in the child. This is the main motivation that helps the mother overcome all obstacles to talk and communicate with her autistic child. But for the father, not only focusing on the child but also sharing feelings and releasing his own thoughts is very important. For the father, these two goals are parallel. 10.2. Frequency of Parental Communication with Children The frequency of parental communication with children is relatively low. The time parents spend with their children is mainly between 15 and 30 minutes, while activities such as feeding or playing with the child are more frequent, but only up to 30 minutes to 1 hour. No parent can communicate with their child for more than 4 hours in daily activities. 10.3. Circumstances of Parental Communication with Children Parents communicate with their children in various situations: playing with them, dropping them off at school, teaching them, bathing them, feeding them, and putting them to sleep. Parents mainly communicate with their children whenever they have free time. They have less opportunity to communicate with their children in the morning or afternoon. At lunchtime, almost no parents have the opportunity to communicate with their children. 4. Content of Parental Communication with Children The topics that parents frequently discuss with their children are limited in content. In daily life, parents can discuss many issues, and their words and actions are diverse and varied. However, in this case, we see that parents do not have much time to spend with their children, so when they talk to their children, the words and actions they use are quite limited. 5. Parental Communication with Children: Parents still use very limited forms of communication with their children. Communication is like a tool to help convey the content and issues that parents want to communicate to their children. However, parents of children with autism have not used this tool effectively. 6. The Influence of Communication on Children's Progress: Parents acknowledge that communicating with their children helps them become more proactive in interacting with others, and they make more progress than before, although this progress is not as rapid as that of typical children. Currently, scientists have not definitively confirmed the cause of autism or the methods of treating this syndrome, but if parents actively communicate with their children, it will help them gradually overcome their limitations in communication and language. 11. Practical Application: This document serves as a resource for research on children with autism. 12. Future research directions: None 13. Published works related to the thesis: None
