Summary of the thesis results: The thesis investigates the linguistic characteristics in 50 event communication messages from January to May 2012 in two cities, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. To serve the survey and research, the thesis has synthesized a number of theories on public relations, event organization as well as the authors' views on communication theory and speech acts. From there, identify and describe the speech acts used in event communication messages. The results obtained show that there are 14 single speech acts and 8 pairs of speech acts used by PR practitioners. In addition, the thesis also investigates how communication strategies are expressed in event messages by analyzing the linguistic functions of the messages. Accordingly, the notification function and the impact function are the two most important functions expressed in these messages. This clearly reflects the specific nature of event communication language, which is to provide information, impact and change the perception, psychology and behavior of the community. The linguistic features shown are not very special, mainly the choice of strong words/word groups that evoke emotions, the choice of pronouns, imperative, questioning and affirmative forms to suit the target audience and the proposed communication strategy. 11.
