A newly discovered genealogical source in Thanh Hoa has provided more information about Thuong Kiet's wife and children: he did not have just one wife but two. The Ngo family genealogy states that Thuong Kiet got married at the age of 16 (in 1036, 2 years before his mother died), and at 16 gave birth to a child, unfortunately both mother and child died. Later, Thuong Kiet married another wife, one with the surname Ta, the other with the surname Ly, named Ly Thi Duy My.
The Ngo family genealogy shows that: Ngo Xuong Xi's grandfather and Ngo Ich Ha (Ngo Tuan's father) lived in Trieu Son (Thanh Hoa). The land to the west - south of Trieu Son district includes the communes: Hop Ly, Hop Thanh - where Ngo Xuong Xi and his sons Ngo Xuong Sac, Ngo Ich Ha developed their power, built Binh Kieu citadel, and became one of the 12 Warlords - 10th century. There are still many relics related to Ngo Xuong Xi and Binh Kieu citadel of the Ngo warlord - son of Ngo Vuong (Ngo Quyen). According to the common understanding: "hometown" must follow the father and grandfather, so it can be affirmed that: Ngo Tuan's original hometown is the current Thanh Hoa land.
During 19 years of ruling Thanh Hoa town, Thai Uy Ly Thuong Kiet made certain contributions in many fields.
He was the one who grasped the foundation of governing the country, the art of pacifying the people, knew how to use power and force to eliminate the wicked, used justice to resolve prison cases, was clear-sighted and tolerant on the inside, kind, simple, modest, and diligent on the outside, and was gentle in commanding the people, so the government in Thanh Hoa town was smooth.
Regarding agricultural production, Ly Thuong Kiet paid great attention to farming. With the concept: "people take warmth and prosperity as the first priority, the country takes farming as the root", "agriculture is the foundation", under the management of Ly Thuong Kiet, Thanh Hoa did not suffer from major crop failures.
Ly Thuong Kiet also directed his subordinates to find precious stones in Nhoi Mountain, promoting the development of stone handicrafts in Thanh Hoa. The development of Thanh Hoa stone craft not only met social needs but also created products of cultural and artistic value, contributing to the traditional art of the nation.
In the context of Buddhism being the state religion, as a prince but still devoted to Buddhism, Ly Thuong Kiet directly directed the renovation and construction of a number of pagodas and towers in Ai Chau. During Ly Thuong Kiet's reign, Buddhism in Thanh Hoa developed strongly, contributing to the prosperity of the national Buddhist culture.
In the folk culture, Grand Chancellor Ly Thuong Kiet is a “Saint”, “born as a general, died as a god”, protecting and protecting the people and the country. He entered the temple in the admiration and respect of the people of Thanh land.
Ly Thuong Kiet temples have been built in many places in our country, concentrated in Thanh Hoa town; a typical one is the temple in Nguong Son near Linh Xung pagoda. The Ly and Nguyen dynasties both granted royal decrees to the temples. Among them, Ly Thuong Kiet temple in Ha Ngoc commune (Ha Trung district) is ranked as a "national historical and cultural relic".
The Ly Thuong Kiet Temple Festival was organized by the Ly and Nguyen dynasties according to international (national) rituals. The contemporary festival attracts many visitors from all over the world and is attended by the people with reverence.
