Summary of the thesis results: Based on narrative theory, the thesis has studied the art of narrative in To Hoai's novels from four perspectives: plot organization, character development, the narrator, and narrative language. Through surveying and analyzing the art of narrative in To Hoai's novels, we find a continuity, development, and unity in To Hoai's narrative art. The plots are simple, yet they are plots of life, ordinary and natural, just like everyday life. Characters are described in detail in terms of appearance and actions, thereby highlighting their personalities. The language in the novels is distinctly "popular," everyday and close to the speech of the people. To Hoai deserves to be called a writer of "life." 11. Practical application: None 12.
