Summary of thesis results: The results of this study contribute to demonstrating that elderly people in rural areas are not dependent on their families, but are still contributing to family life in various ways. In fact, many of them are resources for economic activity and are active participants in community activities. There are clear differences in gender roles between elderly men and women in the family and community. Elderly men still maintain the role of head of household and are important decision-makers. They play a crucial role in maintaining, preserving, and educating their descendants about ethnic cultural values. The implementation of the Law on the Elderly in promoting the role of the elderly still faces many limitations in rural areas. This thesis not only contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of the elderly in the family and community, but also adds a voice to ensure the right to care for the elderly, especially in promoting the role of older people in the country's renewal process and in the context of Vietnam entering a period of population aging.

Contribution of the thesis not only adds knowledge about the role of the elderly to family and community, but also to ensure the caring of the elderly, especially promoting the role of the elderly in the country renovation and in the context of Vietnam is in the early stage of aging society.
