Through studying conversational theory and surveying conversational characteristics in some Vietnamese language textbooks for foreigners at both basic and advanced levels, this thesis aims to provide fundamental, objective, and logical observations on the issue. Within the framework of this thesis, we want to help readers better understand the nature of conversation in general, as well as conversation in Vietnamese language textbooks for foreigners in particular. 2. The main purpose of this thesis is to survey and understand conversation in Vietnamese language textbooks for foreigners to discover some of the most basic characteristics in these conversations. Through this, the thesis aims to design lesson plans and propose several effective Vietnamese speaking practice dialogues at the basic level, contributing to improving the quality of Vietnamese language teaching for foreigners. 3. Based on the research results, we also have recommendations and suggestions regarding the development and teaching of Vietnamese conversation. We hope that this will contribute to the success of teaching Vietnamese conversation and gradually elevate the status of the Vietnamese language to a new level.
