After 6 weeks of intense competition, the SJC Open Cup 2024 Football Tournament has found its champion. In its 12th season, the tournament has left many marks in both scale and organization.
On the morning of May 19, the final match of the SJC Open Cup 2024 football tournament took place at the AKKA football field cluster (Hoang Mai, Hanoi) between the two teams SJC 2 and Tien Phong. With experience and high performance shown throughout the season, the orange team continued to have an overwhelming match compared to SJC 2. After 60 minutes of play, Tien Phong won 6-2 against the home team's representative.
This is not the first time Tien Phong Newspaper has had a "destructive" victory at the SJC Open Cup 2024. They defeated IJC - AJC (Institute of Journalism, Academy of Journalism and Propaganda) 8-3 in the quarter-finals, and defeated FOC - DNU (Faculty of Communication, Dai Nam University) 3-1 in the semi-finals.
The final match between Tien Phong Newspaper (orange shirt) and SJC 2 ended with a 6-2 victory.
Tien Phong Newspaper's achievements were achieved thanks to a well-balanced, experienced squad, highlighted by an effective attack line. Do Ngoc Tuan - the leader of Tien Phong Newspaper's attack line - won the Golden Boot award with 8 goals throughout the season.
On the same day, the 3rd Place match also took place between the two teams TTĐTTH 24h (General Information Website 24h) and FOC - DNU (Faculty of Communication, Dai Nam University). In the end, TTĐTTH 24h won with a score of 7-2.
Immediately after the final match, the closing ceremony and award ceremony for outstanding teams and individuals of SJC Open Cup 2024 took place at AKKA football field cluster. Attending and awarding the awards was Dr. Phan Van Kien, Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Also attending were representatives of sponsors, 12 teams participating in SJC Open Cup and fans.

In addition to the overwhelming victories of the new champion Tien Phong Newspaper, SJC Open Cup also witnessed many other goal-scoring storms in the rounds.
FOC - DNU (Faculty of Communication, Dai Nam University) witnessed the most lopsided victories in the tournament. This team "destroyed" two representatives of the host with a score of 9-3 against SJC 1 in the group stage and 9-0 against the SJC Alumni team in the Quarterfinals. In the match for 3rd place, FOC continued to participate in a match with a lopsided score, but this time they were the victims in the rematch with TTĐTTH 24h when they suffered a 2-7 defeat.

The predecessor of the SJC Open Cup is the Four Heroes Cup, a traditional tournament with 11 previous events organized by the Institute of Journalism and Communication. Starting with a scale limited to 4 teams of students from the Institute, the tournament has continuously grown and become more professional in both scale and organization.
Before the 2024 season, the Four Heroes Cup had seasons with 6 teams, 8 teams with representatives from outside the Institute. The SJC Open Cup 2024 is the largest year with 12 participating representatives including: 3 teams from the Institute of Journalism and Communication; Voice of Vietnam (VOV); Tien Phong Newspaper; Media21Lab Company; General Electronic Information Page - 24H News; Institute of Journalism - Academy of Journalism & Propaganda; Faculty of Communication and Foreign Culture - Diplomatic Academy; Faculty of Communication - Dai Nam University; Faculty of Multimedia - Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology; Faculty of Writing, Journalism - University of Culture.
The traditional name Tu Hung Cup was also changed to SJC Open Cup to match the scale of the tournament.
The large scale and prestige of the tournament is also demonstrated through the attention and support of sponsors. Among them, there are many large units and enterprises such as YODY Fashion Joint Stock Company, Media 21 Joint Stock Trading Company... The support and companionship of media partners such as 24h General Information Website, Golive.vn, Football Plus Magazine... also helps the image of the tournament spread widely.

At the SJC Open Cup 2024, students of the Institute worked together to plan the organization, call for sponsorship, design the identity, organize matches, and communicate throughout the season... The tournament's organizing committee was also established and assigned systematically with the Head of the organizing committee and specialized departments such as the Foreign Affairs Department, the Communications Department, and the Logistics Department. Not just a sports playground, the tournament has become a place for students of the Institute of Journalism to both study and practice.
