
The exchange and performance program is part of the activity of Introducing Tuong art to young audiences, organized by the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with the Vietnam Tuong Theater.
More than 500 students, teachers and staff of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities filled the hall on the 8th floor of Building E - where the exchange activities and performances of famous plays by artists from the Vietnam Tuong Theatre took place. The space was as authentic and vibrant as on the stage of a theater, with the participation of performing artists, drums and other musical instruments.
“Tuong”, “hat bo” or “hat boi” are different names for a unique traditional theatrical art form of Vietnam. As a long-standing classical art form, existing throughout the history of Vietnam, Tuong bears the mark of unique cultural and civilized values passed down from generation to generation. This is a proud feature that not every country has. With a learned literary language that skillfully combines Chinese characters with Nom script, Tuong is a synthetic art that includes literature, painting, music, performances, etc., expressing the traditional values and identity of the nation.
Going back in time, Tuong art has similarities with the fields of social sciences and humanities, especially Han Nom, Literature, Language, Vietnamese Studies... which are the strengths in training at VNU-USSH. For many years, the Vietnam Tuong Theater and the University of General Sciences, then the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, have had many cooperation activities in training and exchange. At the exchange, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, shared his joy and pride when many artists and staff of the Vietnam Tuong Theater are alumni of the school. In the coming time, the Vietnam Tuong Theater hopes to continue to have more VNU-USSH students with a love and passion for national culture and arts, with the knowledge foundation equipped at the school, who will make many contributions to the development of national art forms, including Tuong art.

Cinema and Popular Artsin 2024. This training program is designed to train bachelors to work in research/practice in cinema, popular arts, cultural industries and related fields. Students will be equipped with a system of knowledge and professional skills, and career support skills related to cinema and arts. Many cultural and educational experts assess that the Cinema and Popular Arts training program has many prospects to attract students to choose and be passionate about, helping students open up more career opportunities such as directors, screenwriters, etc.

Excerpt from the play "The old man carried his wife to see a play" - the play received much applause from the audience at the stage of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.
The auditorium of the 8th floor hall of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU was very lively with the enthusiastic applause of teachers and students. The audience was delighted by the flexible variations of the roles, the skillful blend of lyrics and music. The majestic sound with examples of loyalty to the country, self-sacrifice for a great cause, lessons on human behavior between the public and the private, between family and country... brought many emotions to the VNU-USSH audience, especially the foreign students studying at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Excerpt from the play "On Dinh chops the ta" with the talented performance of the artists brought an exciting atmosphere to the VNU-USSH audience.
For Ivan - a student of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, watching a Tuong performance in person was a special experience. “Vietnam’s traditional arts really attract and surprise me. I have loved Vietnamese language and culture for a long time without even realizing it!” - the first-year student excitedly shared. Ivan said that during his time studying at VNU-USSH, he and his fellow students participated in many interesting practical activities in many different localities, and learned about the culture and art of many regions. Those are the values and unforgettable memories of the S-shaped land for international students.

At the exchange, students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, Hanoi were shared by artists about the characteristics and values of Tuong art. Artists of the Vietnam Tuong Theater were extremely surprised by the love and understanding of the young audience of VNU-USSH about this unique art form and hope that in the near future, more generations of students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will continue to contribute to the development of national culture and art.
