
The conference was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai - Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu - Chairman of the Scientific and Training Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, former first Rector of the University; along with former leaders: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - former Party Secretary, former Rector; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Thuyet - former Party Secretary, former Vice Rector; Prof. Dr. Lam Ba Nam - former Vice Rector, Chairman of the University's Retired Teachers Association; former leaders of functional units of the University; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc - Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, former Head of the History Department. The conference was also attended by the University Council leadership, the Board of Directors, heads and deputy heads of units under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and several partners.

Professor Phung Huu Phu, Chairman of the Scientific and Training Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, delivered the opening remarks and provided guidance for the conference.
In his opening remarks at the conference, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, reported on the results of several of the University's activities in the past period. Accordingly, the University is currently in a favorable position to implement plans and tasks for its new development strategy. The organizational structure is streamlined and strong, and training activities have developed steadily in recent years in both quantity and quality. The spirit of innovation and integration is based on the principle of: academia as the foundation and modernity as the trend; scientific research is being promoted, international publications are increasing; the University is leveraging its strengths in providing policy advice to central and local agencies; infrastructure is being strengthened, and finances are stable.
Principal Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized: "What is extremely important and valuable at this time is the atmosphere of unity and solidarity throughout the school. The vast majority of staff are dedicated, building, sharing, uniting, focusing, working together, and striving for innovation. Senior leaders, high-ranking officials, and former leaders of the school have shown great interest in the school's development."
Rector Hoang Anh Tuan also identified the new context of science, technology, and higher education; defined the vision and mission of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in this new context, affirming the fundamental educational philosophy of the University; proposed the goals for the term, the decade-long strategy, and the vision for the next 20 years; thereby emphasizing some key tasks of the University in the next phase.

The conference heard guidance from the Vice Rector of Hanoi National University, representatives of the University Council, former leaders of the University, partners, etc., on building a strategy to develop the University of Social Sciences and Humanities into a highly prestigious university in the continent and the world; a university that develops rapidly, strongly, and sustainably, maintaining the spirit of an elite, research-oriented, and academic university, but also modern and integrated, contributing to society and contributing to national development. The 2025 Expanded Scientific and Training Conference was considered a "Dien Hong Conference" at a pivotal moment in the history of the university's development.

Professor Nguyen Van Khanh, former Party Secretary and former Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasized that, leveraging its advantages and pioneering mission in training and research, the university needs to develop interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary academic programs.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai - Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, affirmed that developing the field of social sciences and humanities is a necessary issue for society, especially in the context of a world undergoing many changes and technology developing at a rapid pace. With its strengths in training and research in this field, the University needs to be a pioneer in researching social issues arising in this new context. “The University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been a leading university and will certainly continue to be a leading university,” the Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, asserted.

In concluding the conference, Professor Phung Huu Phu highly appreciated the valuable advice from the speakers. This provides a scientific and practical basis for the university to develop its development strategy for the coming period.
According to Professor Phung Huu Phu, the development strategy of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities must strongly demonstrate breakthroughs in management thinking, training models, and structures. With its national mission, the university's development strategy must be linked to the country's development strategy and the spirit of the times. It must further leverage the university's advantages to contribute to building the cultural values and human values of Vietnam.
The development strategy also needs to clarify the relationship between academia and practice, with academia oriented towards and serving practice; and the relationship between academia and technology, proactively absorbing and promoting technological achievements, and advancing technology on a people-centered basis. The strategy should have a long-term vision but must include specific programs and plans, creating a framework for proactive and decisive action.
The 2025 Expanded Scientific and Training Conference is of particular importance as the University approaches its 80th anniversary and 30th anniversary as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, marking a new turning point in the University's development history.

Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc - Vice President of the Historical Society, delivered a speech at the conference.
Professor Lam Ba Nam, former Vice Rector and President of the Association of Retired Teachers, emphasized the need to define the role and position of the university and identify the strengths of each field and scientific discipline in order to guide future development.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Nam - Vice Chairman of the University Council, delivered a speech at the conference.
Mr. Nguyen Phan Huy Khoi - Member of the University Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Director of the Vietnam Youth Entrepreneurship Support Center, Vietnam Youth Union, proposed expanding the entrepreneurship ecosystem for VNU-USSH students, linking it with the application of digital technology and digital content production to exploit the strengths of students.
