Receiving the delegation, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities said that currently, the training scale of VNU-USSH is nearly 12,000 students with nearly 100 training programs from bachelor to master and doctoral levels. Of which, there are more than 1,000 foreign students coming to study long-term and short-term programs each year, with about 80% of them coming from China. Among more than 200 international partners in the continents, regular and effective cooperation with Chinese universities, educational institutions, and research institutes has always received great attention and focus from the school's leaders. Currently, VNU-USSH has signed memorandums of understanding and implemented cooperation activities in research and training with many prestigious universities in China, such as: Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Yunnan Normal University, etc.
In 2024, VNU-USSH organized a 2-week credit-recognized study exchange for nearly 100 students of the School at Honghe Academy, Guilin University of Electronic Science and Technology (China) and received very positive feedback.

Highly appreciating the effectiveness of cooperation activities between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Chinese partners in recent times, Mr. Duong Quan, Secretary General of the Chinese Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), shared: Established in 1981, CEAIE has built a network of members of hundreds of high schools, universities and colleges in China, and is the host of many regional and international educational cooperation programs. Therefore, the Association hopes to strengthen connections to promote and further expand student exchanges between Vietnam and China with short-term or long-term 2+2 programs.
Mr. Duong Quan (sitting in the middle) affirmed that the Association is ready to connect to expand cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and universities in China.
Mr. Duong Quan emphasized: "Specific and effective cooperation programs between the Association and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2025 will be practical activities to celebrate important events: 75 years of establishing diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, the year of Vietnam-China people-to-people exchange".
At the meeting, delegates from both sides discussed specific cooperation contents in exchanging lecturers, students, and coordinating the organization of scientific research projects.
Vice Principal Dang Thi Thu Huong said that every year, VNU-USSH has about 500 students choosing Chinese as their second foreign language, many students of various majors wish to exchange and study at Chinese schools. However, in reality, this activity is facing some difficulties: information about scholarship training programs in China for Vietnamese students is not widely available, short-term training programs suitable for the majors and desires of students are not diverse.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu (Principal of the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities) shared: as the only high school in the country that trains in the field of social sciences, affiliated with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities has about 100 graduates each year, of which more than 30% wish to study abroad. The school's students have good Chinese and English proficiency in learning and research and wish to study at a Chinese university. However, currently, accessing information about suitable training programs and universities is still quite difficult. Principal Nguyen Quang Lieu expressed his hope that the Association would support and connect students to access complete information and register more easily.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Ha (Director of the Center for Foreign Languages and Training Cooperation, VNU-USSH) shared some more difficulties, especially the issue of funding for training programs offered by Chinese universities that are not really suitable for the conditions of the majority of Vietnamese students. We hope that with the Association's consulting and connecting role, VNU-USSH students can access many support programs of the Chinese Government as well as universities for foreign students.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Ha discussed at the working session Agreeing with the proposals and discussions from the representatives of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Secretary General of the China Education Association for International Exchange Duong Quan pledged to increase the widespread and timely sharing of information about the support programs for international students of the Association's universities, as well as annual scholarships for outstanding students.
Also at the meeting, Mr. Trinh Dai Vi - Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, affirmed that the Embassy is always ready to support the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in connecting and implementing cooperation activities with universities and educational institutions in China.
Mr. Trinh Dai Vi added that in 2025, in addition to the annual scholarships to study in China for students and lecturers of the University, there will be a number of additional scholarships from the Chinese Government awarded to outstanding students studying Chinese Studies, each worth about 3,000 yuan.
