Speaking at the reception, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) expressed his gratitude to the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam and the Ambassador himself for connecting and effectively implementing cooperation activities between the University and Cuban educational and scientific organizations. Currently, there are two Cuban students studying and researching at the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language of VNU-USSH.
Principal Hoang Anh Tuan and Professor Rogelio Sierra Diaz both affirmed that the two sides have a lot of room for cooperation.
With its leading position in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is honored to be assigned by the Ministry and Department to preside over the implementation of a major science and technology program to serve the cause of national construction and development in the new context. 2025 is a year of special significance when Vietnam celebrates many important milestones, and is also the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year, the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Therefore, the University wishes to promote cooperation in training and scientific research to new heights with partners in Cuba.
Appreciating the warm feelings that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has given to the delegation, the Director of the Institute for Advanced International Relations “Raúl Roa García” Rogelio Sierra Díaz affirmed: the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba is a special, loyal, pure, and rare friendship in international relations. The cooperation between the two schools not only has great academic value but also contributes to strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries. As the leading unit of Cuba in training and research on international relations, training diplomatic staff not only in Cuba but also in many countries around the world, the Institute for Advanced International Relations “Raúl Roa García” wishes to expand cooperation with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the following specific areas:
1. Exchange of students, trainees, lecturers and experts.
2. Cooperation in publishing in prestigious magazines and publishers of the two countries
3. Scientific research cooperation.
Director Rogelio Sierra Díaz informed: The Raúl Roa García Institute organizes a biennial international scientific conference (expected in March and April 2026) on the topics of international relations, Latin America, and political institutional systems and respectfully invites scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to attend. This is not only a simple academic exchange activity but more importantly, it is a sharing of valuable lessons and experiences in the construction and development of each country.
Agreeing with the cooperation orientation proposed by the leaders of the Institute for Advanced International Relations “Raúl Roa García”, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized a number of specific activities that the two sides can coordinate to implement immediately: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities will send publishing regulations and introduce the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities so that Cuban scholars can submit articles for publication. In 2025, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (1945-2025), the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will host an international scientific conference expected to have the participation of many scholars around the world, respectfully inviting Cuban scientists to write articles and attend directly.
Principal Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his wish to welcome the Cuban Ambassador in the near future to discuss with lecturers and students of the school about Cuba, Latin America, and international relations.
At the end of the working session, the two sides agreed to soon sign a cooperation agreement to serve as a legal basis for promoting cooperation activities between the two units in the coming time.
