Current situation and future directions for the development of Korean language education for Vietnamese youth.

The above topic received much discussion from domestic and international scientists at the international scientific seminar organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi this morning, October 10, 2025.
The seminar was attended by scientists from the Sejong Korean Language Center in Hanoi, the Department of Linguistics, Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies; the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the Hinode Binh Minh Foreign Language Center, and other interested individuals.
In recent years, interest in Korean language education for young people in Vietnam has been steadily increasing. The international seminar "Current Status and Development Directions of Korean Language Education for Vietnamese Youth," organized by King Sejong Academy Hanoi 1, aims to strengthen cooperation and exchange among Korean language education institutions in Vietnam, while also exploring future development directions for Korean language education.
This is also an opportunity for experts in the field of Korean language education to share and exchange diverse knowledge and practical experiences, which is a great driving force contributing to the development of Korean language education in Vietnam.
Associate Professor Dr. Dang Hong Son - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, delivered the opening remarks at the seminar.
The workshop focused on discussing topics such as: Theoretical issues and teaching methods for Korean language to Vietnamese teenagers; Problems and current situations regarding Korean language teaching for teenagers in Vietnam; and Seeking solutions for teaching Korean to teenagers in Vietnam.
Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh - Head of the Department of Linguistics, Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies, presented a paper entitled "Language Education for Young People - From the Perspective of Vietnamese Language Education".
Dr. Le Thi Thu Giang - Director of King Sejong Academy Hanoi 1 - presented a paper on the topic "Korean language education for Vietnamese youth - viewed from the perspective of resources and trends in the target learners".
Ms. Nguyen Phuong Ly (Hinode Binh Minh Foreign Language Center) presented a paper entitled "The Current State of Korean Language Teaching for Vietnamese Students in Hanoi".
As a leading research and training center in Vietnam in the field of social sciences and humanities, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has made significant contributions to Korean studies education in Vietnam, fostering friendly cooperation between the two countries. The university has signed numerous cooperation agreements with partners in Korea and consistently supports the development of Korean language and culture education in Vietnam.
Over the years, King Sejong Institute, specifically King Sejong Institute Hanoi 1 located at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, has made practical contributions to fostering a love and passion for learning and researching the Korean language and culture among young Vietnamese people.
In May 2024, King Sejong Institute organized an international scientific conference on standardizing Korean language interpreting and translation training in Vietnam, contributing to promoting cooperation and exchange of experiences among educational institutions in Vietnam that provide Korean language training on the issue of Korean language interpreting and translation training.

King Sejong AcademyKing Sejong is an organization sponsored by the Korean government to promote Korean language and culture education worldwide. As of 2022, the King Sejong Network had 244 branches in 84 countries, including 23 branches operating throughout Vietnam.
In Vietnam,King Sejong Korean Language Center Hanoi (King Sejong Hanoi 1)It is a unit directly under the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The center organizes short-term courses, exams, and certifications in Korean language from the King Sejong Foundation, as well as courses on Korean language and culture for Vietnamese people.
Sejong Korean Language Center Hanoi 1 aims for international standards thanks to the cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Busan Foreign Language School (South Korea). With its diverse training programs, high-quality instructors, and professional management, the Center conducts training programs and organizes Korean language proficiency exams that meet South Korean national standards.
