(VNUmedia) Professor Lai Quoc Khanh, a member of the Central Theoretical Council and Vice-Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is a reputable young educator and scientist who is always dedicated to the noble cause of educating people. Looking back at his career in training, scientific research, and management, it is clear that he has made significant contributions to building a modern political science discipline in Vietnam.
Graduating with honors in 1998, Lai Quoc Khanh was entrusted by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to remain as a lecturer in the Department of Political Science.
Recalling his early days in the field of Political Science research and training, he shared: “At that time, the Department of Political Science was in its early stages of development, with only a few lecturers and not many professional activities yet. I was very fortunate and honored to receive the guidance and mentorship of esteemed teachers such as Professor Phung Huu Phu, Professor Dang Xuan Ky, Associate Professor Bui Thanh Quat, Associate Professor Le Mau Han, and others. Together with my teachers and colleagues, I gradually built training programs in Political Science and Ho Chi Minh Studies at all three levels: bachelor's, master's, and doctoral. Thanks to our tireless efforts, the Department has developed strongly, becoming the Faculty of Political Science and achieving the position it holds today.”
Since then, Professor Lai Quoc Khanh has begun his career as a teacher and a professional researcher in philosophy and political science. To date, the Professor has spent 26 years lecturing at many major universities both domestically and internationally.Many of Mr. Khanh's students, regardless of age or position, expressed their admiration and affection, not only for his profound knowledge, but also for his inspiring teaching methods with compelling logical arguments, and especially for the respect, care, and warmth he showed his students.

Professor Lai Quoc Khanh is an outstanding educator and scientist, as well as a capable manager and leader. He dedicates most of his time, intellect, and passion to teaching, his students, and his research projects, but it was his organizational skills and scientific management thinking that led him to management at a relatively young age. He was the youngest Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities compared to his predecessors, and also served as Head of Department and Deputy Dean of Faculty from a very young age. Professor Khanh stated that holding various leadership and management positions provided him with practical experience, thereby contributing to deepening his scientific thinking.
After being appointed Associate Professor in 2012, from 2013 to the end of 2016, Professor Lai Quoc Khanh continued working at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as Deputy Head of the Faculty and Head of the Ho Chi Minh Studies Department. His professional activities during this period focused on in-depth research into Ho Chi Minh Thought, especially Ho Chi Minh's political philosophy and related theoretical and practical political issues. This research direction has been maintained and developed by the professor to this day.
From early 2017 to early 2021, Professor Lai Quoc Khanh was appointed by the leadership of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) to the position of Vice Director of the Tran Nhan Tong Institute. During this period, to serve the Institute's professional tasks, the professor developed research in Buddhist political science. To date, Professor Khanh continues to expand and develop this research direction into religious political science, especially since he was also assigned the role of Director of the Center for Contemporary Religious Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
In March 2021, the leadership of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) appointed Professor Lai Quoc Khanh as Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In August 2021, he was appointed a member of the Central Theoretical Council by the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Since then, he has continued to develop a new research direction on Vietnamese politics. This research focuses on identifying and resolving issues in Vietnamese politics based on the application of Ho Chi Minh's thought combined with modern political theories, aiming to contribute effectively to the tasks of the Central Theoretical Council.

Professor Lai Quoc Khanh has published numerous high-quality scientific works, including many articles in prestigious scientific journals both domestically and internationally; he is the editor, author, and co-author of many monographs and textbooks, including textbooks used nationwide - Ho Chi Minh Thought, or textbooks that laid the foundation for a new field of study - Introduction to Ho Chi Minh Studies.
As a reputable scientist, Professor Lai Quoc Khanh is also known and highly regarded by international scholars. He has lectured at National Taiwan University (China), Xi'an Normal University (Shaanxi, China), etc., and has organized, chaired, and participated in many international forums and conferences. He is respected and highly valued by his international colleagues, not only for his professional competence and academic depth, but also for his ability to make a strong impression with his goodwill, serious yet open-minded work style. This international prestige has helped him connect and build international cooperation relationships in political science training and research, including very successful collaborations with the Federal Republic of Germany, Taiwan, and China.
Professor Lai Quoc Khanh has always been deeply committed to training a team of young, highly qualified and ethically sound teaching staff. In his leadership and management roles, he has directly recruited, trained, and mentored many young professionals. He has also directly guided and assisted numerous postgraduate and doctoral students. To date, nearly 20 PhDs in Political Science, supervised by him, are now young educators and scientists at various educational institutions nationwide.
Professor Lai Quoc Khanh has always placed high expectations on young educators and scientists who are both strong in their professional knowledge and deeply committed to their responsibilities to the country. For him, the greatest goal is not only to train excellent researchers and political cadres, but also to cultivate individuals who embody the ideal of serving society, contributing to making Political Science a field that actively contributes to the sustainable development of the country and the regime. In everyday life, we can encounter moments when scientist Lai Quoc Khanh expresses himself through gentle, profound Zen-inspired poetry. With this philosophy of life, despite being busy with his professional work and leadership and management responsibilities, Professor Khanh always maintains a calm, optimistic, composed, and self-possessed spirit.
