On July 30, 2017, representatives from the Party Committee, Board of Directors, and Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities visited and congratulated two veteran educators, Associate Professor Pham Thi Tam and Associate Professor Nguyen Thua Hy, on their 80th birthdays.

Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) shared: Associate Professor Nguyen Thi Tam and Associate Professor Nguyen Thua Hy are senior educators and scientists who have made significant contributions to research and teaching at the former Hanoi University and the current University of Social Sciences and Humanities. They have guided many generations of students and trainees, many of whom have achieved success in science and made substantial contributions to society. Not only do they possess profound knowledge, but they are also shining examples of passion and dedication to science, and are loved and admired by generations of students for their compassionate and caring nature.

On behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors, we wish all teachers good health, happiness in life, and continued valuable insights and contributions to the scientific and educational activities of the school and the country.

Associate Professor Pham Thi Tam was born in 1937 in Hung Yen. She graduated with a degree in History from the Faculty of History at Hanoi University in 1959. She was appointed Associate Professor in 1984 and awarded the title of Excellent Teacher in 2008. From 1959 to 1994, she worked at the Department of Ancient and Medieval Vietnamese History, Faculty of History. Her notable scientific works include:History of the feudal system in Vietnam(co-authored, volume 1), Education Publishing House, 1962;The resistance war against the Mongol invasion in the 13th century(co-authored),Social Sciences Publishing House, Hanoi, 1968; reprinted 1970, 1972, 1975, People's Army Publishing House, 2003;Strategic decisive battles in the nation's history(co-authored), People's Army Publishing House, Hanoi, 1976; reprinted 2003... She was awarded the First Vietnam National University, Hanoi Science and Technology Prize in 2006 for her work.The resistance war against the Mongol invasion in the 13th century.

Associate Professor Nguyen Thua Hy was born in 1937 in Hanoi. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in History from the Faculty of History, Hanoi University in 1959; received his PhD in Ancient and Medieval Vietnamese History in 1984; was recognized as an Associate Professor in 1996; and was awarded the title of Excellent Teacher in 2002. He worked at the University from 1990 to 2002 in the Department of Ancient and Medieval Vietnamese History, Faculty of History. His main research areas are Vietnamese history and cultural history, and the history of Thang Long - Hanoi. He was awarded the State Prize for Science and Technology in 2010 for his work.Thang Long - Hanoi in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.
