Comrade Pham Hoang Giang is reporting to the Congress the Party Committee's review of the 2013-2015 term.
On March 16, 2015, the Philosophy Faculty Party Cell held the Party Cell Congress for the 2015-2017 term. Attending the congress were comrade Nguyen Van Kim, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Principal of the School, and all Party Cell members.
The Congress listened to the summary report of the Party cell's work for the 2013-2015 term and the direction of work for the 2015-2017 term. In addition to the achievements in political and ideological work, in the last term (2013-2015), the Party cell of the Faculty of Philosophy achieved many important achievements in the work of cadres, creating important premises for the development of the Party cell in the next term.
The 2013-2015 term was the term in which the Philosophy Faculty Party Cell had changes in the organization of cadres, when the center for training political theory lecturers was merged into the Faculty. However, with the close, timely and effective direction of the Party Cell, the Faculty Board, the solidarity and utmost efforts in the work of the cadres and civil servants in the Faculty, the Faculty still maintained high solidarity and consensus, creating a quick integration of new cadres into the Faculty.
The Faculty Party Cell has done a good job in developing staff planning. Based on the training program and teaching tasks of the subjects, the Faculty Party Cell has proposed timely staff additions when staff retires, ensuring proper procedures, principles of democratic centralism, publicity and transparency.
The Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the Faculty in the last term had many policies to encourage and create conditions for staff, especially young staff, to study at home and abroad, to improve their professional qualifications and foreign languages. As a result, in the last term, the Faculty had 3 more staff recognized as Associate Professors, 3 staff successfully defended their PhD theses. Currently, the Faculty has 2 staff studying for PhD abroad, 5 staff studying for PhD in the country, this will be an important successor team in the future.
In addition to the achievements in staff work, the Faculty Party Cell also achieved many achievements in training and scientific research activities.
Regarding training activities, the Party Committee, the Party Cell, the Faculty Board and the Scientific Council have adjusted the standard and high-level bachelor training programs according to the output standards under the credit training method. The Faculty has opened an additional training program for postgraduate students specializing in Religious Studies (both Master's and Doctoral levels, the doctoral program will enroll students this year 2015).
Regarding scientific research activities of staff and students, there have been many new developments. In the last term, the Faculty successfully organized 2 conferences, 1 national and 1 international. The Faculty has compiled 18 textbooks, of which 3 textbooks, 3 monographs, 1 scientific conference proceedings, co-authored and published 5 specialized books, 9 study guides, and published nearly 50 articles in domestic and international journals and conference proceedings. The Faculty has accepted 1 special topic at VNU level, 1 city-level topic, 3 VNU-level scientific research topics, and 3 school-level topics. Student scientific research activities are still maintained with about 40 reports/year and the quality has been improved. The Faculty collective won the second prize at the school level for student scientific research.

Speaking at the congress, comrade Nguyen Van Kim, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Principal of the School emphasized: The Philosophy Faculty Party Cell is one of the large Party Cells, playing an important role in the development of the School. In the past term, the Faculty Party Cell has strongly integrated into the overall development of the School. To continue promoting its role and position, in the coming time, the Faculty Party Cell needs to focus on the following key tasks:
Philosophy is a field closely linked to the life and politics of society and the country, especially at the present time. Therefore, the Faculty Party Cell needs to identify that political and ideological work plays an important role, pioneering in all activities. That is the decisive factor, aiming to build a strong, united and unified collective.
As a leading center for training in social sciences and humanities in the country, the Party Cell of the Faculty of Philosophy needs to be a pioneer in the field of training, organizing interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary training programs, in addition to training in philosophy, also training in other majors, such as religious studies; in addition to undergraduate training, also training at postgraduate levels; in addition to regular standard training, also aiming to invest in building high-quality programs, aiming at the output quality of students.
In the coming time, the Faculty Party Cell needs to focus on building a system of documents, textbooks, outlines, lectures, and a system of reference documents and monographs. The Faculty Party Cell organizes a professional council to evaluate old textbooks that are no longer suitable for practical knowledge, to propose solutions for updating and editing them appropriately.
In addition, the Faculty Party Cell also needs to focus on building document sets with typical and characteristic elements of the Faculty. This plays a very important role in building the brand and promoting the image of the Faculty.
In addition, team building is a key strategy. “The Faculty Party Cell must be clearly aware of the need for a team of talented cadres and leading experts in the field of Philosophy in Vietnam. Investing in and attracting this team is a vital factor in the development of the Faculty Party Cell in the upcoming term,” Comrade Nguyen Van Kim emphasized.
The Congress also voted to elect the new Party Cell Committee for the 2015-2017 term, consisting of 5 comrades: Comrade Nguyen Huu Thu (Secretary), Comrade Pham Hoang Giang (Deputy Secretary), Comrade Nguyen Thuy Van, Comrade Tran Thi Dieu and Comrade Nguyen Quang Hung (Committee members).
