The seminar was attended by researchers and Korean language lecturers from the faculties of Korean and Korean Studies of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNUHCM, University of Foreign Languages - VNU, Hanoi University, Hue University, Danang University, Thang Long University, Hanoi University of Industry, Ha Long University, etc.
At the seminar, Prof. Dr. Mai Ngoc Chu - Chairman of the Korean Studies Association in Vietnam shared information: In 1992, Vietnam and Korea officially established diplomatic relations and opened a period of rapid development and achieved many results in the relationship between the two countries. Korean governmental and non-governmental organizations have actively supported the development of Korean studies and Korean language education in Vietnam, including the Korean Embassy, KF, Koica, etc.
Over the past 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, many seminars on Korea have been held and many magazines on Korea have been published in Vietnam. Korean Studies in Vietnam has also developed rapidly with the establishment of many training and research institutions across the country. In the same trend, this experience sharing exchange program is part of the Korea Foundation's KF Networking 2019 series and focuses mainly on sharing experiences in teaching Korean, a fundamental field that supports other studies on Korea.
Mr. Woo Huyn-min (Chief Representative of the Korea Foundation - KF) said: Vietnam and Korea have established diplomatic relations for a long time and have jointly organized many events related to Korea. Previously, seminars, talks, and workshops mainly discussed Korean studies in specific fields. This event, organized by the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, has a different meaning when it aims to exchange and share experiences in teaching Korean among lecturers in Vietnam. Korean lecturers will have the opportunity to exchange and learn from colleagues from other universities. Hopefully, long-time Korean teachers will share their valuable experiences and young lecturers will be open-minded and actively accept new teaching methods, learn from their predecessors to improve their own teaching methods.
The exchange session focused on the content: how to improve Korean teaching skills and proposals to overcome difficulties in teaching and developing Korean in Vietnam.
