Discussing the strengths of the University's Chinese studies research, Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan introduced important teaching and research centers such as the Department of Chinese Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies), the Department of Han Nom Studies (Faculty of Literature), and the Center for Chinese Studies. At these units, lecturers and researchers have been conducting in-depth teaching and research, gaining recognition both domestically and internationally. In addition, the University annually welcomes approximately 500-600 Chinese students for study and internships. Many Chinese graduates from the University have become experts in Vietnamese language and culture, diplomats, including four former students who have become Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Vietnam. The University has also collaborated with Shanghai Foreign Language University on student and faculty exchange programs, as outlined in a memorandum of understanding signed in November 2016.

During the meeting, the leaders of the two universities also exchanged views and agreed to further promote cooperation between the two sides in the fields of training, research, and international publications. Professor Guo Shuyoung extended an invitation for faculty and staff from his university to visit Shanghai Foreign Language University as soon as possible.
Shanghai Foreign Language University, established in 1949, is a key university in Shanghai and China, built under the "211 Program". Shanghai Foreign Language University offers 38 undergraduate programs, 41 master's programs, and 17 doctoral programs. The university offers programs in foreign languages as well as other fields such as international economics and trade, finance, law, international politics, educational technology, and journalism. It has over 5,900 full-time students, nearly 3,000 postgraduate students, and over 1,500 international students.
