According to the plan, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will receive two Indonesian language lecturers: Ms. Yeyen Purwiyanti (Center for Strategic Language and Diplomacy Development, Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia) and Ms. Fitria Wiyarti Nindyaningrum (Malang State University, Indonesia). These two lecturers will be responsible for teaching Indonesian to students of the Southeast Asian Studies Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies, in the second semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. This is part of the cooperation agreement between the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam and the University.
On behalf of the University, Professor Pham Quang Minh expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian Embassy for its role in connecting them with native Indonesian-speaking lecturers. He also pledged to ensure the best possible living and working conditions for the two Indonesian lecturers during their time in Vietnam.

In 2018, Southeast Asian Studies officially became an independent major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, with Indonesian language as a compulsory subject in the curriculum. In early 2019, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities collaborated with the Indonesian Embassy to organize the first Indonesian language training course, which ran from February to June and was attended by 47 students from the Southeast Asian Studies Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies.
