According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), this year's World Tourism Day theme emphasizes the potential of tourism to create new opportunities for communities to develop economically and socially, and to improve their lives around the world. The crucial role of communities in promoting the sustainable development of the tourism industry is particularly emphasized. There can be no truly developed tourism industry if that development threatens the values and culture of local communities. According to the UNWTO's Global Code of Conduct for Tourism:Local people need to be involved in tourism activities and share fairly the socio-economic and cultural benefits they generate."
With the aim of sharing and conveying this message, the Gala night was vibrant with many youthful and energetic performances of music, dance, and singing. The highlight of the evening was a skit and game show aimed at communicating and helping people understand the important role and position of the tourism industry, the significance of linking tourism with community development, how to harmonize business and social interests, and what young people need to do to respond to the message of World Tourism Day 2014?...
The Gala Night also featured students from several universities in Hanoi. This program is an annual and characteristic activity of students from the Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
