The 2014 Freshman Orientation Day was a large-scale and attractive program organized with significant investment in many aspects by the Youth Union and Student Association of the University, a meaningful gift for students entering the university environment for the first time.

After two days filled with joy and excitement, with many rich and colorful activities, the 2014 Freshman Orientation Day truly brought many emotions to the young people of the university: showcasing the spirit and youthful energy of the Faculty of Humanities, igniting aspirations for contribution and a desire for action, along with a sense of pride in their school.

The launching ceremony of the "Student Day: Saying No to Domestic Violence," organized by the University's Youth Union in coordination with the Central Youth Union on the morning of September 27th to commemorate "National Day for the Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence," served as the opening bell for the 2014 Freshman Orientation Day.

The launching ceremony summarized the achievements of the Central Youth Union and students in the fields of gender equality and domestic violence prevention over the past years; it also pointed out existing problems regarding violence among young people and in schools, trafficking of women and children; and launched the project on behavioral change education regarding family building and domestic violence prevention until 2020.


Immediately after the opening ceremony, the booths of the 9 clubs/teams under the Youth Union - Student Association of the University in the E building courtyard began recruiting members and carrying out various activities to promote their image. This club/team camp is a continuation of the experience from the Club's Day program welcoming new students in 2013 - and has become one of the most vibrant highlights of this year's Freshman Welcome Day.

Alongside the club/team activities taking place throughout the day, a seminar titled "Preparing for New Students" and a free film screening and Q&A session with the film crew (of the film "Living with History") were simultaneously held in the auditorium on the 8th floor of Building E, receiving much attention from the students.

On the evening of September 27th, the Gala Night - Final Round of the USSH's Got Talent 2014 competition continued to evoke strong emotions from many guests, teachers, and supporters. Fifteen outstanding performances in the Final Night, along with a modern stage, sound, and lighting system, created an unforgettable impression on the audience. The first prize of the night went to Mai Trung Thai (K59 Journalism student) for his Popping dance performance.


The “USSH's Got Talent 2014” Gala Night became even more successful as it also served as a platform for guests, faculty, and many Youth Union and Student Association leaders from within and outside the university to interact and showcase their talents (Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu - Head of Student Affairs Department, Mr. Tran Bach Hieu - Secretary of the University Youth Union, Ms. Le Thanh Huyen - Secretary of the University Youth Union, etc.) - truly deserving to be the biggest highlight of the 2014 Freshman Orientation Day.

Continuing the series of activities of the 2014 Freshman Orientation Day, on Sunday morning (September 28th), the "Green Humanities" Volunteer Day, organized by the University's Student Union, took place at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Lan (Deputy Secretary of the University's Youth Union - President of the University's Student Union) participated in managing the volunteer activities.

Nearly 500 students from various faculties/departments and clubs/teams were present from early morning to prepare for the event: 55 students from the Faculty of Information and Library Science and the Faculty of Archival Studies & Office Management were responsible for cleaning the computer labs; 111 students from the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of International Studies, the Faculty of Tourism Studies, and the Faculty of Management Science were responsible for cleaning the benches and flowerbeds; 60 students from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies, and the Faculty of Psychology cleaned the road bridges and the school gate area; and approximately 300 students from the Faculty of Political Science, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Faculty of History, the Faculty of Literature, the Faculty of Sociology, etc., were responsible for cleaning the lecture halls; in addition, many student groups from various clubs/teams enthusiastically participated in the event.
"Let's join hands to make the Faculty of Humanities greener!" is the meaningful slogan of the "Green Humanities" festival, and also the slogan to conclude the series of lively activities welcoming new students that took place consecutively on September 27th and 28th, 2014.

Looking back at the events of the 2014 Freshman Orientation Day, students of the QH-2014-X cohort in particular, and the youth of the University in general, can be proud whenever they recall the movements and activities of the Youth Union and Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, remembering this event as one of the beautiful memories of their student and freshman years.
The 2014 Freshman Orientation Day concluded successfully, laying a bright foundation for opportunities for a new generation of student union members to contribute their youthful energy to the university. Based on this, the Youth Union and Student Association of the University will continue to nurture, train, and develop students, providing them with more opportunities and preparation throughout their university years and their lives afterward.
