From October 9th to 15th, 2014, the Museum of Anthropology (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) collaborated with the Vietnam Youth Museum to organize a photo exhibition on the theme "Hoang Sa, Truong Sa - A Nation at the Forefront of the Waves". The exhibition attracted thousands of faculty and students from both within and outside the university.

The photographs displayed at the exhibition reflect touching stories about the Paracel and Spratly Islands. These include the selfless sacrifices of Vietnamese naval soldiers in the 1988 naval battle to defend the Spratly Islands, as well as the simple yet resilient and heroic daily lives of the soldiers and civilians on the islands. Sometimes the photos simply capture the sacred flag-raising ceremony of Vietnamese naval soldiers during the Lunar New Year; images of soldiers standing proudly guard at sovereignty markers in a torrential rain; or the simple, innocent dreams of a child on Sinh Ton Island who wants to "become a naval soldier" when they grow up… All of these images touched the hearts of viewers and left a lasting impression with a range of emotions. Above all, viewers felt a surge of pride and admiration for the generations of ancestors who were willing to sacrifice themselves to protect the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland.

Amidst the tranquil autumn atmosphere of Hanoi on the campus grounds, uncontrollable emotions erupted into tears. Many tears flowed freely. One student expressed a longing to one day become a soldier on Truong Sa Island, to take up arms and defend the sovereignty of the Fatherland. With these lingering emotions and impressions, the exhibition successfully conveyed a message of love and responsibility for preserving and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands to the younger generation.
