Prof. Lovell shared that this was his first time visiting USSH. The reason for choosing the University as the place to introduce the KoSASA (Korean Studies Association of South East Asia) scholarship is because USSH is a member of the network of leading universities studying Korean in Southeast Asia. The University is also known as the leading Korean studies training unit in Vietnam.
Prof. David Lovell from the University of New South Wales (UNSW, Australia)
Prof. David Lovell briefly introduced the University of New South Wales (UNSW) located in Canberra (Australia) and the opportunities that international students, especially Vietnamese students, have when studying here. The University of New South Wales ranked 45th in the Quacquarelli Symonds world university rankings, with its Master of Business Administration program in the top 100 in the world. In Canberra, the school has 4 faculties: Business, Social Sciences and Humanities, Engineering & Informatics, Geography, Environment and Mathematics with 3,000 students and 400 staff. In particular, Korean studies is one of UNSW's strengths.
Prof. Lovell shared information on how and when to apply for a postgraduate degree at UNSW. Specifically, the application period for KoSASA is divided into two periods, in August 2018 and February 2019. Regarding foreign language certificates, IELTS and TOEFL are both accepted. IELTS scores must be above 6.5, with no component score below 6.0. If using TOEFL to apply, the average score of all skills must be 92/120, especially the writing score must be at least 23, and other skills must be above 22.
In addition, Professor David Lovell also discussed with the School's lecturers many specific contents related to learning conditions, review standards and other notes for candidates.
