Opening of Academic writing course for lecturers

On March 19, 2018, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities opened an Academic Writing course for staff and lecturers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The lecturer is Professor David Camroux from the Paris Institute of Politics.

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) thanked Prof. David Camroux for accepting to teach this course for the second time at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Rector affirmed the important role of academic writing skills in English in research, planning and teaching activities at the University. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh hopes that with activities like this course, the University will have more subjects in English included in the curriculum.

The first session was attended by staff and lecturers from many faculties in the school such as Journalism and Communication, Tourism, Anthropology, Languages, etc. Students discussed with lecturers about standard academic writing methods suitable for each field of study. The course was arranged into many classes taking place alternately on weekdays, creating favorable conditions for all staff and lecturers to participate.

About the lecturer: Prof. David Camroux is a lecturer in subjects related to Southeast Asia and Asia at the Paris Institute of Political Science (Sciences Po), and a visiting professor at many universities around the world such as the London School of Economics, Central European University, Gadjah Mada University and Korea University. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for International Studies (CERI), France. In addition to his educational activities, Prof. Camroux is also a member of the Asia-Pacific Commission and an advisor to the International Secretariat of the ruling party in France.
