Welcoming the delegation from Zacatecas University (Mexico)

During the reception, Professor Pham Quang Minh extended a warm welcome to the first visitors from Mexico to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Rector introduced the history and development of the University, which originated as the General University, one of the first universities established after Vietnam gained independence in 1945. The University has trained many outstanding politicians and managers, as well as more than 10 foreign ambassadors to Vietnam. The University hopes to welcome more lecturers and students from Mexico in the future to work and study there.

In response, Dr. Antonio Guzmán Fernández expressed his appreciation for the visit and work at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Dr. Fernández announced that there are currently six Vietnamese students studying at Zacatecas University. He expressed his willingness to grant short-term scholarships to five students from the Social Sciences and Humanities fields to study Spanish and a one-year bachelor's program at Zacatecas University. Furthermore, he expressed his interest in establishing a Department of Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies at Zacatecas University. He also invited Professor Dr. Phạm Quang Minh and other faculty members from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to visit and hold a seminar at Zacatecas University as soon as possible.

In response to Dr. Fernández's goodwill and determination to promote cooperation between the two universities, as well as Vietnam-Mexico relations, Professor Pham Quang Minh accepted the invitation to visit Mexico in the first quarter of 2019. The two universities will proceed to organize a conference on a topic of common interest. The Rector stated that the two universities share many valuable similarities and hopes that the relationship between them will be maintained and strengthened in the future.

The Autonomous University of Zacateras, founded in 1959, is located in the city of Zacatecas, Mexico. It is one of the top 20 universities in Mexico. Its fields of study and research include Arts and Culture; Basic Sciences; Health Sciences; Engineering; Humanities and Education; Social Sciences, Economics and Administration; and Agricultural Sciences.
