At the meeting, Dr. Jurgen Haacke introduced the mission of the Saw Swee Hock Southeast Asia Center. Established under the patronage of Prof. Saw Swee Hock, the Center is an interdisciplinary address to promote academic and policy research in the political and social context of Southeast Asia. The Center brings together rich research from Southeast Asian experts at the London School of Economics, as well as scholars around the world; thereby advising governments, businesses and civil society on issues and challenges related to this region. In Southeast Asia, the Center wants to build a network of scholars through event programs and interdisciplinary seminars with partners in the region. Therefore, during this visit, Dr. Jurgen Haacke wants to meet and discuss with scholars and researchers at the USSH on Southeast Asian issues in general and Vietnam in particular.
In response, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh expressed his pleasure to welcome and was ready to share his knowledge and perspectives with Dr. Jurgen Haacke. The Rector said that these activities are in line with the University's orientation of internationalization and strengthening international cooperation.
In a frank and open spirit, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh and Dr. Jurgen Haacke discussed a number of issues regarding Vietnam's foreign policy towards the UK in relation to other countries and territories; Vietnam's views on the UK's role in the Southeast Asian regional order; the possibility of establishing a comprehensive partnership and dialogue between the UK and ASEAN; Vietnam's policies and views on military alliances and links, relations between China and Vietnam in particular and ASEAN in general.

LSE is located in central London with modern facilities, including the British Library of Economics and Political Science, the UK's main library for social sciences.
