Professor, People's Teacher Phan Huy Le - Corresponding Member of the Academy of Inscriptions and Fine Arts (Republic of France), born on February 23, 1934 in Thach Chau commune, Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh province, President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association (1988-2016), Honorary President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, former Chairman of the Science and Training Council, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, former Director of the Center for Vietnamese Studies and Cultural Exchange, former Head of the Department of Ancient and Medieval Vietnamese History, Faculty of History; former Head of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Head of the National Social Science Project on Research and Compilation of the History of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh Prize, State Prize for Science and Technology; Second-Class Independence Order, First, Second, and Third-Class Labor Orders. He was awarded the Order of the Academic Palm Branch (Republic of France), the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize (Japan)... After a period of illness, despite the dedicated care and treatment from a team of doctors and family, due to his advanced age and serious illness, he passed away at 1:10 PM on June 23, 2018 (May 10, Year of the Dog), at the age of 85.
The memorial service will be held from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM on June 27, 2018 (corresponding to the 14th day of the 5th lunar month of the Year of the Dog) at the National Funeral Home, 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi. The burial will take place at Vinh Hang Cemetery Park, Hanoi at 1:00 PM on the same day.
