Party Work Conference 2018

Attending the conference were Comrade Doan Van Bau (Deputy Director of the Information Center for Propaganda Work, Central Propaganda Department); Comrade Nguyen Van Kim (Secretary of the School's Party Committee); and Comrade Pham Quang Minh (Deputy Secretary of the School's Party Committee).

Opening the conference, Comrade Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh (Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Head of the Party Committee's Inspection Board) announced, on behalf of the Party Committee, the commendation decisions of the Party Committee of Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Accordingly, the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and its four branches (History, Literature, Philosophy, and Rectorate 1) achieved the title of "Clean and Strong Party Organization" for five consecutive years. Three Party members received the title of "Party Member with Excellent Performance for Five Consecutive Years": Comrade Dang Thi Thu Huong (Faculty of Journalism and Communication), Comrade Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Board of Directors), and Comrade Dao Thanh Truong (Faculty of Management Science).

The conference also announced the commendations of the University Party Committee to 3 Party branches (Faculty of Management Science, Faculty of International Studies, and Rectorate 3) that met the standards of clean and strong Party organizations, and 27 Party members who excellently completed their tasks.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Van Kim (Secretary of the School's Party Committee) emphasized: "This is the 9th year that the School's Party Committee has received the title of Outstanding Party Committee of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. In the coming time, the Party Committee will continue to be determined to better complete the Party work. The Party Committee will lead and direct activities so that the School continues to develop even more strongly, worthy of being a leading research and training center in social sciences and humanities."

Following the awards ceremony, the Party members continued to listen to Comrade Doan Van Bau (Deputy Director of the Information Center for Propaganda Work, Central Propaganda Department) discuss the content of the 2018 Party work training.

The training content emphasized key areas of work: the role and functions of the Party branch committee; some new issues in current political and ideological work; and supervisory activities within the Party organization.

According to Comrade Doan Van Bau, Party members need to strictly adhere to the resolutions of higher levels. Party committees and branches should regularly and promptly disseminate the resolutions of higher levels; apply their content to the specific characteristics of their agencies and units; develop reasonable action programs, and put the resolutions into practice.

Comrade Doan Van Bau emphasized that, in the current context, political and ideological work for Party members is very important. This is a task that should be implemented at the forefront, so that Party members can quickly grasp the guidelines and policies, and from there develop their own individual action plans.

For the Party organization to develop strongly, the work of identifying, nurturing, and accurately evaluating people plays a very important role. Comrade Doan Van Bau emphasized the danger that if people are not evaluated correctly, group interests could cause disunity within the unit.

Party supervision and inspection work needs constant attention. The purpose of this work is to identify strengths and weaknesses in the implementation of the resolution, thereby promptly honoring and rewarding good units, and promptly directing the adjustment of incorrect or improper activities, in order to reduce or avoid affecting the unit's operations. Following the Party work training, on behalf of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Comrade Nguyen Van Kim (Secretary of the University's Party Committee) disseminated the Central Resolution No. 7, XII to all Party members.

The resolution emphasized that in the coming period, grassroots Party organizations need to raise awareness, strengthen political, ideological, moral, and lifestyle education for Party members and cadres; continue to innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of personnel work; build a team of cadres with good qualities, capabilities, and prestige to meet requirements; strictly control power in personnel work, combat corruption in appointments and promotions; and promote the role of the people in building the cadre team.

Comrade Dang Thi Thu Huong, on behalf of the School's Party Committee, informed the Party members about the Cybersecurity Law and the political security situation and social order and safety in the city.

The content of the implementation of the Party Committee's conclusions and the Plan for implementing the Resolution of the 6th Central Committee Meeting, 12th term, was presented at the conference by Comrade Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh (Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Head of the Party Committee's Inspection Committee of the School).

Some of the key points discussed include: Developing a plan and effectively implementing the project "Adjusting, reorganizing, and developing the organization within the University of Social Sciences and Humanities"; Focusing on effectively reviewing the functions and tasks of the units; Reviewing, supplementing, and perfecting management documents on organizational structure to minimize overlapping functions, tasks, and areas of activity of the units; Determining the number of deputy heads and criteria for determining the number of deputy heads of units; Implementing the policy of unifying the Party Secretary and the head of the unit and implementing the policy of the Head of the Party Committee of the University concurrently holding the position of head of the functional department of the University; Piloting the development and implementation of a self-governing and self-responsible project.
