During the recent heavy rains, the Me Tri dormitory area was flooded, causing difficulties for nearly 2000 students. Water overflowed into the first-floor corridors, even submerging the students' first-floor beds. The first-floor restrooms were unusable, and electricity and water were cut off. According to the dormitory management, 26 first-floor rooms in blocks C1 and C2 were severely flooded. In these conditions, with the multifaceted support of the management, the students in the dormitory united to help and support each other overcome the difficulties during the days of heavy rain and flooding.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences provided 240 boxes of instant noodles to students in the dormitory rooms and encouraged them to feel secure and settle into their new lives so they could continue their studies.

Earlier, on the afternoon of November 4, 2008, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu - Vice Rector - along with representatives from the Political and Student Affairs Department of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, visited and decided to allocate funds from the University to provide emergency support to 173 students residing in rooms on the first floor of blocks C1 and C2 of the Me Tri Dormitory, with an amount of 100,000 VND per student.
