80 students received the Chung Soo Scholarship in 2008.

This year, 80 students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities received the Chung Soo Scholarship, double the number from last year. These are third and fourth-year students with outstanding academic achievements, scientific research, and active participation in student organizations during the 2007-2008 academic year, selected from the university's regular faculties.

This year, 80 students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities received the Chung Soo Scholarship, double the number from last year. These are third and fourth-year students with outstanding academic achievements, scientific research, and active participation in student organizations during the 2007-2008 academic year, selected from the university's regular faculties.

On October 29, 2008, the 2008 Chung Soo Scholarship Award Ceremony was held. Attendees included Mr. Choi Phillip - Chairman of the Chung Soo Foundation, Mr. Kim Duk Soon - Director of the Chung Soo Foundation, Ms. Kwon Young On - Secretary of the Chung Soo Foundation, Mr. Im Hong-Jae - Ambassador of Korea to Vietnam, Mr. Paik Nak Whan - former Ambassador of Korea to Vietnam, and Mr. Duong Chinh Thuc - former Ambassador of Vietnam to Korea. Representing the university were Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector, and Associate Professor Dr. Pham Gia Lam - Vice Rector.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Choi Phillip, Chairman of the Foundation, expressed his hope that the scholarships awarded today would be a timely gift to help students overcome difficulties and excel in their studies. Mr. Choi also advised the students to strive to improve themselves so that when the time comes, they can seize the opportunity to achieve success in life.

Ambassador Im Hong-Jae of South Korea to Vietnam praised the activities of the Chung Soo Foundation as the beginning of a meaningful endeavor to support and assist academically gifted young people in Vietnam. The Ambassador compared this work to nurturing seeds of hope in the hearts and minds of Vietnamese students – diligent, talented young people – and expressed his belief that from this seed sowing, positive results will be reaped in the future.

Distinguished guests representing the Chung Soo Foundation, the Korean Embassy, ​​and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities presented scholarships to the students.

The Chung Soo Foundation of South Korea was established in 1962 by Mr. Park Chong Hee with the aim of nurturing talent to serve the economic and social development of South Korea. Later, the Foundation expanded its funding to other countries to support human resource development in several developing countries, including Vietnam. In 2007, the Chung Soo Foundation awarded scholarships to outstanding students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) for the first time.
