National Press Conference 2018: Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam visits the exhibition booth of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication.

This morning (March 16, 2018), the 2018 National Press Conference opened in Hanoi with the participation of Politburo member and Head of the Central Propaganda Department Vo Van Thuong, and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

Over the years, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication has consistently participated in the annual Spring Press Festival as one of the two largest journalism and communication training institutions in the country. This year, the Faculty's booth occupies a prominent position at the exhibition. The Faculty brings to the festival its latest intellectual products, including books, documents, and research papers... reflecting fundamental theoretical knowledge about journalism and communication; introducing new journalistic trends; anticipating the impact of science and technology and the 4.0 technological revolution on journalistic trends and the operational skills of journalists in the digital age; reflecting new types and products of journalism and communication; and assessing changes in the relationship between journalists and the public in communication activities…

Furthermore, the exhibition booth of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication also reflects the strong innovations in the Faculty's journalism and communication training activities, namely training linked to practice; training linked to the practical activities of Vietnamese journalism; and training in journalism strongly integrated with the region and the world. The Faculty currently offers all three levels of training: undergraduate, master's (research-oriented and application-oriented, practice-oriented), and doctoral in journalism, notably being the only faculty-level unit to train bachelor's degree students in both Journalism and Public Relations. For many years, the Faculty has also pioneered cooperation with Stirling University (a leading university in the United Kingdom) to train the first and only Master of Communication Management in the Northern region with international standards and quality, attracting great interest from students.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam visited the exhibition booth of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, expressing particular interest in research and training in journalism and communication as a fundamental, primary, and crucial area of ​​activity that significantly impacts the quality of reporters, journalists, and those working in communication today; as well as contributing to shaping the image of the country's journalism and communication landscape.

The Faculty's exhibition booth also welcomed many delegates working in the field of journalism.and media visits to explore collaboration opportunities.

The Deputy Prime Minister listened to the presentations from the Faculty's leadership representatives and also offered guidance and encouragement to the faculty and scientists, urging them to better understand their important role and position in journalism in general. The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his belief that journalism will continue to undergo even stronger reforms, not only accompanying the country's modernization but also contributing to the acceleration of national renewal, leading to rapid and sustainable national development.

This year's Spring Press Festival is large in scale and scope, with many diverse activities and the participation of 55 units, including media agencies from local to central levels, and journalism and communication training institutions nationwide. The 2018 National Press Festival honors the great achievements of Vietnamese journalism, promotes journalistic products associated with the work and creativity of journalists across the country. The festival also helps to strengthen interaction and exchange between journalists and the public, encouraging the press to perform its functions and duties well, meeting the increasingly high information needs of the people.

Journalism and communication training at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is very strong in practical activities, enhancing professional skills thanks to a modern and synchronized system of broadcasting and television equipment and studios comparable to other professional broadcasting and television agencies.

The young people were very excited to be guided by the technicians on how to create a media product using only their smartphones.
