National Press Conference 2018: Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam visits the exhibition booth of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication

This morning (March 16, 2018), the 2018 National Press Conference opened in Hanoi with the participation of Politburo member, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Vo Van Thuong, and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

Over the years, the Faculty of Journalism and Communication has always participated in the Spring Press Fair as one of the two largest journalism and communication training institutions in the country. This year, the Faculty's booth occupies a prominent position at the exhibition. The Faculty brings to the Press Fair the latest intellectual products including books, documents, research works... reflecting fundamental theoretical knowledge about journalism and communication; introducing new journalism trends; leading predictions about the impact of science and technology, of the 4.0 industrial revolution on journalism trends as well as the working skills of journalists in the digital age; reflecting new types and types of journalism and communication products; identifying changes in the relationship between journalists and the public in communication activities...

In addition, the exhibition booth of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication also reflects the strong innovations in the Faculty's journalism and communication training activities, which are training associated with practice; training associated with the practice of Vietnamese journalism activities; journalism training strongly integrated with the region and the world. The Faculty currently trains all three levels of undergraduate, master's (research-oriented and application-oriented, practice-oriented) and doctoral degrees in journalism, especially being the only faculty-level unit training bachelors in two majors: Journalism and Public Relations. Over the years, the Faculty has also pioneered in cooperating with the University of Stirling (the UK's leading university) to train the first and only Master of Media Management in the Northern region with international standards and training quality, attracting great attention from learners.

Books, textbooks, and research works of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication staff are displayed at the Press Fair.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam visited the exhibition booth of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, expressing his special interest in journalism and communication research and training as a fundamental, first and important activity, greatly affecting the quality of reporters, journalists and media workers today; as well as contributing to the appearance of the country's journalism and communication industry.

The Faculty's booth also welcomed many delegates working in the field of journalism.and media visits to find cooperation opportunities

The Deputy Prime Minister listened to the sharing of the representative of the Faculty's leadership, and also gave instructions and encouragement to the team of teachers and scientists to be more aware of their important role and position in journalism activities in general. The Deputy Prime Minister also shared his belief that journalism activities will continue to have stronger innovations, not only accompanying the country's innovation but also contributing to promoting the country's innovation, bringing the country to rapid and sustainable development.

This year's Spring Press Festival is large in scale and stature, with many diverse activities, with the participation of 55 units including local and central press agencies, journalism and media training institutions across the country. The 2018 National Press Festival honors the great achievements of the Vietnamese press, promotes press products associated with the work and creativity of journalists across the country. The Press Festival also helps to enhance exchanges and meetings between journalists and the public, encouraging the press to perform well its functions and tasks, meeting the people's increasing demand for information.

Journalism and communication training at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is very strong in practical activities, improving professional skills thanks to the system of radio, television, and modern and synchronized studio equipment on par with other professional radio and television agencies.

Young people were very excited when the technicians guided them on-site to create a media product using only a smartphone.
