The Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences offered flowers at the Memorial Monument for the event of cadres and students of Hanoi National University joining the army to protect the Fatherland on July 27.

Attending the ceremony were Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Duc (Chairman of the Association of Former Teachers of VNU), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Ba Nam (Chairman of the Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huy Ho (Chairman of the Association of Former Teachers of the University of Natural Sciences), Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh (Chairman of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and comrades in the Executive Committee of the Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Ba Nam, representing the delegation, delivered a speech expressing deep gratitude and respect for the contributions and sacrifices of generations of cadres and students of Hanoi National University who died for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. The speech emphasized:

"Today, in a solemn and emotional atmosphere, on the campus of Hanoi National University, former teachers of the University of Natural Sciences, University of Social Sciences and Humanities with the presence of the President of the Association of Former Teachers of Hanoi National University are here to pay tribute and commemorate the heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the cause of national liberation. From this campus, 1,333 cadres and students of Hanoi National University have put down their pens and gone to join the army and many cadres and students have become symbols of the Vietnamese posture carved into the century.

We went without regretting our lives.
But how can I not regret my twenties?
But if everyone regrets their 20s, what's left of the Fatherland?

You have dedicated your whole life to the country at a very young age, with many dreams and ambitions still unfulfilled. That is the greatest sacrifice and nothing can compare, nothing can compensate for it."

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, the delegates respectfully offered flowers and observed a minute of silence to commemorate and express their gratitude for the contributions of the heroes and martyrs, of previous generations of fathers and brothers; especially the generations of cadres and students of Hanoi National University who joined the army to protect the Fatherland. The war has long gone, but their images will live forever in generations of cadres, lecturers and students of the University. As stated by the President of Former Teachers: "Your spirit will always live forever with your homeland, forever with the love of our compatriots, comrades, and our beloved school. That is the longevity, the reason for living, the Vietnamese morality that we always keep in mind".

This is an annual activity, a beautiful tradition of the organizations, of the staff and lecturers of the two schools, adding to the tradition of "remembering the source of the water you drink", respecting the past, and also to remind the next generations of staff, lecturers and students of their gratitude and appreciation for the generation of students and staff of the University who put down their pens and went to war, "cutting across Truong Son to save the country/With hearts full of hope for the future".
