This is the seventh annual conference, held within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement on Intellectual Property between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Intellectual Property Office. The goal is to connect science with education. Through this, we aim not only to encourage the creativity and learning abilities of students but also to positively impact the effectiveness of training, especially in the field of intellectual property – a relatively new field in Vietnam today.

Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim – Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, delivered the opening speech at the conference.
Attending the conference, on behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector of the University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Head of the Faculty of Management Science. On behalf of the Intellectual Property Office were Dr. Le Ngoc Lam – Deputy Director of the Intellectual Property Office, and Mr. Nguyen Van Bay - Director of the Research and Training Center (Intellectual Property Office). The conference also included representatives from several universities nationwide, such as Mr. Nguyen Luong Sy from the Faculty of Civil Law, Hue University of Law, Dr. Tran Quoc Binh - Head of the Science and Technology Department, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and scientists, teachers, staff, lecturers, and students from the following universities: National Economics University, Hanoi Law University, Foreign Trade University, and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Overview of the conference
In his opening remarks at the conference, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - affirmed: “Intellectual property rights (IPR) are one of the important fields of science and technology in the context of the whole world entering the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Therefore, the student scientific conference on IPR raises its voice to harmonize with the general development trend of scientific revolutions and emphasizes the role of IPR in innovation today.”
Professor Nguyen Van Kim also hoped that the conference would be a place to connect scientists, lecturers, and students interested in intellectual property rights (IPR) to work towards improving the effectiveness of IPR protection and enforcement in Vietnam in the context of international integration and globalization. He also expressed his determination to transform the university into an intellectual incubator, a place to nurture the scientific aspirations of students.

Dr. Le Ngoc Lam – Deputy Director of the Intellectual Property Office, delivered a speech at the conference.
This year, the Student Scientific Conference on Intellectual Property received 22 scientific research reports on various aspects related to intellectual property from 43 students from four universities: National Economics University, Hanoi Law University, Hue University of Law, and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Of these, four reports were selected for presentation at the Conference: The issue of trademark infringement and related legal aspects viewed from the case of the Hao Hao – Hao Hang trademark dispute; Application of US6777012B2, an invention not protected in Vietnam, to seafood preservation technology at the frozen food factory – Hoang Ha International Logistics Joint Stock Company; Proposal to improve intellectual property law related to the protection of non-traditional trademarks to meet the requirements of the integration trend in Vietnam; and Patent protection in the pharmaceutical field approached from a human rights perspective.

The judging panel for this year includes: Ms. Ha Thi Nguyet Thu, Intellectual Property Office - Head of the panel, along with members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Hai - Head of the Intellectual Property Department, Faculty of Management Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thu Ha - Faculty of Economics and International Trade, Foreign Trade University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam - Head of the Law Faculty, National Economics University; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thi Hai Yen - Director of the Intellectual Property Law Center, Hanoi Law University.
The students participating in the scientific research presentations demonstrated strong character, confidence, and understanding of their research content, presenting their findings in a coherent and clear manner. Most of the questions posed by the judging panel were answered well. This shows the students' ability to think critically, work independently, and invest seriously in their research.
The Student Scientific Conference on Intellectual Property concluded successfully. In summary, the judging panel reviewed, evaluated, and awarded prizes:

Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim – Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, presented the first prize to Nguyen Van Phuc (student of the Faculty of Law, Hue University).

Mr. Nguyen Van Bay – Representative of the Intellectual Property Office, presented the second prize to Hoang Thi Huong and Ho Thi Huong Tra (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi).

Students from the National Economics University and Hanoi Law University won third prize.

Associate Professor Dr. Vu Thi Hai Yen - Director of the Intellectual Property Law Center, Hanoi Law University, presented the Encouragement Award.
