This is the seventh annual conference, within the framework of the Intellectual Property Cooperation Agreement between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the National Office of Intellectual Property. The goal is to link science with training. Through that, it not only encourages the creativity and learning ability of students but also positively impacts the effectiveness of training, especially in the field of IP - a new field in Vietnam today.

Attending the conference, on behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Party Committee Secretary, Vice Rector of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Head of the Faculty of Management Science. On behalf of the Department of Intellectual Property, there were Dr. Le Ngoc Lam - Deputy Director of the Department of Intellectual Property, Mr. Nguyen Van Bay - Director of the Research and Training Center (Department of Intellectual Property). The conference also had the presence of representatives of a number of universities across the country such as Mr. Nguyen Luong Sy from the Faculty of Civil Law, University of Law - Hue University, Dr. Tran Quoc Binh - Head of the Department of Science and Technology, University of Natural Sciences, VNU and scientists, teachers who are officials, lecturers, students from universities: National Economics University, Hanoi Law University, Foreign Trade University, University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Conference overview
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities affirmed: “IP is one of the important fields of science and technology in the context of the whole world entering the 4th industrial revolution. Therefore, the student scientific conference on IP is like raising a voice to join the general development trend of scientific revolutions and promote the role of IP in innovation today.”
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim also hopes that the conference will be a place to connect scientists, lecturers, and students interested in IP, aiming to improve the effectiveness of IP protection and enforcement in Vietnam in the context of international integration and globalization. And demonstrate the determination to turn universities into intellectual incubators, where the scientific aspirations of students are nurtured.

This year, the Student Scientific Conference on Intellectual Property received 22 scientific research reports on various aspects related to IP by 43 students from four universities: National Economics University, Hanoi Law University, Hue University Law School and University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Of which, 4 reports were selected to be presented at the Conference: The issue of trademark infringement and related legal aspects from the Hao Hao - Hao Hang trademark dispute; Applying the US patent US6777012B2, which is not protected in Vietnam, to the seafood preservation technology at the frozen factory - Hoang Ha International LOGISTICS Joint Stock Company; Proposal to improve intellectual property laws related to non-traditional trademark protection to meet the requirements of the integration trend in Vietnam and Patent protection in the pharmaceutical sector from a human rights approach.

The students who participated in the scientific research report demonstrated their courage, confidence, understanding of the content of their research and presented it in a coherent and clear manner. Most of the questions raised by the Board of Judges were answered well. This shows the students' ability to think, work independently, and seriously invest in their research.
The Student Scientific Conference on Intellectual Property ended successfully. At the end of the Conference, the Jury reviewed, evaluated and awarded the following prizes:

Mr. Nguyen Van Bay - Representative of the National Office of Intellectual Property awarded the Second Prize to Hoang Thi Huong and Ho Thi Huong Tra (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU)
Students of National Economics University and Hanoi Law University won third prize.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Hai Yen - Director of the Center for Intellectual Property Law, Hanoi Law University awarded the Encouragement Prize.
