Awarding the Decision to appoint Vice President of VNU to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Son

Attending the ceremony, on behalf of the Government leaders and central ministries, there were: Comrade Phung Xuan Nha - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Training; Comrade Nguyen Duy Thang - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and comrades representing the leaders of the Government Office, the Office of the President, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, comrades representing central ministries and Hanoi.

On the side of VNU, there were: Comrade Nguyen Kim Son - Party Secretary, President of VNU, comrades in the Board of Directors, former leaders of VNU through the periods, leaders of the Office and functional Departments and member units, directly under VNU.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duy Thang - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs announced Decision No. 509/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on the temporary appointment of Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Rector of the University of Economics, VNU to hold the position of Vice President of VNU.

On behalf of the Government, Comrade Phung Xuan Nha - Minister of Education and Training presented the Prime Minister's Decision to new Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Son.

Speaking at the ceremony, VNU President Nguyen Kim Son congratulated the new Vice President Nguyen Hong Son. The President expressed that the new Vice President has been entrusted by the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of VNU to take on the responsibility of training - an important field of work with opportunities and challenges for VNU in particular and the education and training sector in general.

“At the same time, this is also an opportunity for VNU to demonstrate its pioneering role in the field of education and training. The task set for the new Vice President Nguyen Hong Son is also very heavy. I believe that with the support and consensus of the staff, lecturers and students of VNU, our Board of Directors will complete the task and for the common cause of VNU,” emphasized President Nguyen Kim Son.

Expressing his honor at being appointed to the new position, the new Vice President Nguyen Hong Son thanked the staff and leaders of the University of Economics and key officials of VNU and superior leaders for their trust in appointing him to the new position.

The new Vice President said that VNU has a special position in the Vietnamese higher education system, playing an important role in the national innovation system. Along with research activities, training is one of the two key areas that make up the position, reputation and brand of VNU. In recent times, thanks to dynamism and creativity and efforts to expand cooperative relationships, VNU has achieved many important results, but there are also many challenges such as: maintaining and developing traditional majors of VNU, promoting the effectiveness of existing training programs to meet social needs, linking training with research, training with practice and international training...

The new Vice President Nguyen Hong Son expressed his determination to join forces and unite with the comrades in the Board of Directors of VNU to continue to innovate training work. According to the new Vice President, training must be associated with the characteristics of each industry and field, promoting the strengths of each unit while the combined strength between members demonstrates unity in diversity of One - VNU. "Training forms need to be diversified, the capacity of staff and lecturers needs to be regularly improved, the role of regulation and management needs to be strengthened in the direction of creatively and flexibly applying the Decrees of the State and the Ministry of Education and Training, creating a favorable environment for units to maximize their strengths, support in solving arising problems, seek resources and connect domestic and international relationships" - Vice President Nguyen Hong Son affirmed.
