"The State, the Market, and Society: International Experience and Implications for Vietnam"

The workshop addressed the relationship between the State, the Market, and Society – a crucial issue for every country, especially Vietnam, in the process of building a rule-of-law state, perfecting a market economy, and developing society. The workshop focused on specific topics: theoretical models of social development regarding the triangular relationship between the State, the Market, and Society; the changes in each factor within the triangular relationship and in each pair of factors: State-Market, State-Society, Market-Society; and Reshaping the relationship between the State, the Market, and Society in good governance: experiences from several countries and their applicability in Vietnam.

The workshop contributed to enhancing theoretical understanding and knowledge on the topic of the relationship between the State, the Market, and Society, and drew many lessons for Vietnam from the experiences of other countries.

The conference was attended by many scholars from both within and outside the country.

In his opening remarks at the workshop, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) thanked the KAS Institute for its companionship and support for the University's scientific research activities over the years. Thanks to this, many workshops on topics related to socio-economic development models and lessons for Vietnam have been organized, creating a forum for open scientific discussion among scientists, lecturers, and students of the University. Thirty years ago, Vietnam implemented the Doi Moi (Renovation) policy to transform from a centrally managed economy modeled after the Soviet Union to a socialist-oriented market economy. This new model has created many achievements in all areas of politics, economics, and society, and currently, Vietnam continues to strive to perfect that model. With that in mind, the University hopes that Vietnamese and foreign scientists at this conference will delve into discussions about the differences between development models around the world based on the relationship between the State, the Market, and Society, and offer suggestions for Vietnam.

Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) delivered the opening remarks at the conference.

The workshop included the following sessions:

- Session 1: The Relationship Between the State, the Market, and Society: International Experience.

- Session 2: The relationship between the State, the Market, and Society in Vietnam.

- Session 3: The relationship between the State and the market economy.

- Session 4: The relationship between the State and Society.
