Final round of the USSH Student IT Skills Competition

On May 16, 2017, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities organized the final round of the 2nd Student Information Skills Competition (UITC). The competition was hosted by the Faculty of Library Information. The final round was attended by Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Principal of the University).

Before the final round, the 20 teams participating in UITC this year had to go through three rounds: Preliminary round with 100 theoretical multiple choice questions; Semi-final round with practical exam format and Media round with graphic design skills, video making or social media interaction. These teams were formed from members who shared a passion for Information Technology, coming from faculties and departments in the University. After three rounds, the Organizing Committee scored based on available criteria to select the 6 best teams to enter the final round, including teams: 404, 3T, Shiny, Sky's, Vo Cuc and Happy Bright Page.

The jury of the final night included: Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Principal of the School), Dr. Do Van Hung (Head of the Library Information Department) and MSc. Ta Thi Bich Ngoc (Deputy Secretary of the School Youth Union).

This year's UITC finals are divided into 3 rounds: Round 1 - Relay, Round 2 - Confrontation and Round 3 - Finish. In Round 1, the Organizing Committee will give 18 multiple choice questions on three topics: Microsoft Office; online accounts/social networks and graphic design. 6 players from 6 teams will press the bell to win the right to answer these questions.

Overview of round 1 of the final night

In round 2, the teams will be drawn into three pairs. Each team must answer three questions posed by their opponents. The questions will revolve around three topics: word, excel and power point, of which 2 theory questions and 1 practice question are required.

In round 2, the teams draw lots to choose the team that will face their team directly.

In the Finish Round, each team will have 5 minutes to present on one of the six drawn topics. The judges will score the teams' presentations based on specific criteria such as: slide design, presentation style, problem solving, message delivered, etc.

At the end of the UITC 2017 IT Skills Competition, the third prize went to Sky's team; the second prize went to 404 team; the first prize went to Happy Bright Page team. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded the following prizes: Most enthusiastic fan, Most favorite prize, Best word and excel editing skill prize, Best presentation skill prize.

Surpassing 19 other teams, Bright Happy Page team won first prize of UITC 2017.

UITC is a computer skills competition for students organized by the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities every two years. The competition represents a new direction in the movement of the school's youth: encouraging units to host school-level activities on the basis of maximizing their professional advantages. This year's program is sponsored by the Center for Foreign Languages ​​and Training Cooperation of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
