Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language welcomes K63

In the bustling and fresh atmosphere of autumn - the school season, on the morning of October 5, 2018, at the large hall of B7 Bis, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language (VSL) held an opening ceremony and Orientation to welcome K63 students to officially enter the VSL house. The opening ceremony of the Faculty became even more special with the presence of K63 - with 86 Vietnamese students and 13 international students, the newest and youngest generation.

With the presence of all teachers and new students, the opening ceremony took place in a joyful, comfortable, friendly but no less solemn atmosphere. At the beginning of the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thien Nam (Head of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language) gave a welcome speech and an overview of the development history of VSL. After that, he and the teachers in the Faculty Board, Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam and Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh, presented awards to Etienn Mihler (student of K62, who won second prize in the VNU-Hanoi Student Scientific Research Competition); students with the highest entrance scores and students with efforts to overcome difficulties of K63. In addition, the Faculty also prepared small, lovely gifts and gave a free lunch to all 99 new students.

Right after the opening ceremony, under the direction of Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh (Deputy Dean in charge of the Vietnamese Studies bachelor training program), the Faculty organized an Orientation activity to help new students quickly determine the right direction for themselves in their 4 years of study and research at the Faculty. With that goal, the speakers participating in the Orientation session presented issues of interest to all students.

First, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh gave an overview of the training program and academic issues. Then, Dr. Dang Hoang Giang shared 4 basic strategies that students need to implement to best prepare for graduation day. This topic was further elaborated through the sharing of Etienn Mihler (K62) and Nguyen Thi Thom (K59) on how to learn English and how to do scientific research effectively.

Next, MSc. Vu Thi Xuyen and MSc. Vu Lan Huong introduced the rich scholarship programs of the Faculty, the University and the experience of connecting Vietnamese and international students.

ProgrammeHello K63of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language is a practical activity, contributing to promoting the connection between new students with the Faculty and with teachers, giving them a firm belief, strong inspiration and a clear direction on the path they have chosen.
