The meeting focused on organizing the international scientific conference "The Role of History Education in Peacebuilding in East Asia." The event is scheduled to take place from July 19th to 25th, 2020 (three days of the main conference and three days of field trips) in Hanoi. Representatives from both sides discussed and reached preliminary agreement on issues such as venue, participants, language, reception procedures, and equipment.

On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Nguyen Van Kim highly appreciated the idea of organizing the conference and affirmed the interest of the University as well as the Vietnamese historical community in this significant event. The Vice Rector pledged that the University would create the best conditions to ensure the success of the conference. On behalf of the East Asian Society for History and Peace, Professor Jang-Hie Lee expressed his honor to visit a prestigious educational institution in Vietnam specializing in social sciences and humanities. He believed that the conference in July would be an opportunity to strengthen exchange and mutual understanding between Vietnam and Korea, thereby drawing lessons for the future development of bilateral relations and contributing to world peace.

The East Asian Society for History and Peace was established in 2007 with the organization of its first History and Peace Conference in Seoul, South Korea. The Society's mission is to realize goals related to peace and history, and to build a shared understanding of history among domestic and international organizations. Some of the Society's activities include organizing conferences on History and Peace, exchanging and building links with international NGOs, and supporting member organizations in capacity building.
