On the afternoon of January 13, 2010, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Vice Principal of the University received Professor, Dr. Karen Adams, Department of Political Science and Ms. Deena Mansour, Maureen and Mike Mansfield Research Institute (University of Montana, USA).
On the afternoon of January 13, 2010, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Vice Principal of the University received Professor, Dr. Karen Adams, Department of Political Science and Ms. Deena Mansour, Maureen and Mike Mansfield Research Institute (University of Montana, USA).
Ms. Deena Mansour thanked the University for sending highly qualified scientific and teaching staff to lecture and attend the Conference in Montana last semester. The practical cooperation activities in the past year not only created conditions for the University of Montana staff and students to understand more deeply about the history, culture and international relations of Vietnam, but also contributed to strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two Universities. Ms. Mansour also conveyed the official proposal of Prof. Dr. Weidner on two planned cooperation programs in 2010:
1. Bilateral cooperation to organize a scientific conference on Vietnam at the University of Montana in the fall of 2010.
2. Propose that the School continue to send staff to lecture on economic and trade issues in Vietnam in the first semester of 2010-2011.
On behalf of the School, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim thanked Montana University for its strategic importance in its relationship with the School, and affirmed that it will strive to cooperate in successfully organizing the Scientific Conference on Vietnam. The School will also arrange staff to teach in Montana at the end of 2010.
After the reception, the Faculty of History’s Faculty Youth Union organized a scientific discussion entitled “Vietnam and the Emerging International System” between Prof. Dr. Karen Adams and the faculty and students of the Faculty of History. In addition to professional issues, at the end of the discussion, Prof. Adams and Ms. Mansour also spent a lot of time answering questions about methods, opportunities to study abroad in Montana... for students.
After signing an official cooperation agreement in early 2009, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Montana have implemented many professional cooperation activities. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities has sent staff to the University of Montana to attend the Scientific Conference on “Aging and its impacts on the economy and society of America and Asia”, and to lecture on topics of Vietnamese history and culture at the University of Montana. The school is also planning to send staff to study training experience, organize scientific research and educational management at the University of Montana in the near future.
