The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi) plans to organize an international scientific conference: “The psychological trauma consequences for victims of chemical poisoning in the Vietnam War”.
Objectives of the Workshop:
- To fully, deeply, and scientifically identify the severe psychological, physiological, and socio-psychological consequences that the war of aggression inflicted on the victims.
- Contributing to awakening the conscience and sense of responsibility of the social community as well as progressive humanity across the planet to actively support and alleviate the suffering of the victims.
- To provide complete and accurate information so that the international community can gain a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the losses and sacrifices that the Vietnamese people are enduring, and to encourage their voluntary contributions to building a prosperous and strong Vietnam.
The workshop is expected to be organized into three subcommittees.:
ButSubcommittee 1Assessing the impact of Agent Orange (Dioxin) on the physical health of victims and the birth defects and congenital abnormalities in their descendants.
ButSubcommittee 2Assessing the current situation and the extent of psycho-physiological and psychosocial damage suffered by victims directly or indirectly exposed to Agent Orange (Dioxin).
ButSubcommittee 3: Evaluate the material and psychosocial support activities provided by the state, social organizations, and the community to victims of Agent Orange in the past and propose feasible forms of psychosocial support in the future.
