Receiving and working with Professor Ivan Welty

At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh briefly introduced the history of training and research of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as the leading address for training in social sciences in Vietnam. The school is strengthening its position in the international arena by promoting training, publishing activities and especially international relations. Recently, the school has launched the Journal of Social Sciences and Literature. It is expected that the journal will be published 6 issues in 2016, of which 2 issues will be published in English. Therefore, the Rector hopes to receive professional contributions from foreign professors such as Professor Ivan Welty to further improve the journal.

Prof. Ivan Welty thanked Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh and the School for their warm welcome. Prof. Welty will work at the School from February to June 2016. During this time, Prof. Welty will lecture, research and establish a list of reference materials with the School's Philosophy Department. In particular, Prof. Welty will coordinate with the Philosophy Department to teach two classes: Introduction to Social Sciences and Humanities and Introduction to Philosophy. The subjects of the course are lecturers, young researchers and postgraduate students of the School.

Professor Ivan Welty works at Willamette University, a private university founded in 1842 in Salem, Oregon with nearly 2,600 students. Professor Ivan Welty is an expert in early analytic philosophy, philosophy of language, logic and mathematics, as well as classical Chinese philosophy.
