University of Social Sciences and Humanities participates in Thanh Xuan District Badminton Tournament 2018

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Khong Minh Thao - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Thanh Xuan District warmly welcomed the presence of leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hanoi City, representatives of the Thanh Xuan District Party Committee, departments, organizations, representatives of participating units and more than 30 athletes from 4 units: University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi University, Regional Political Academy I and Thanh Xuan District Youth Union.

The friendly badminton tournament is one of the people's foreign affairs activities and also an annual activity of the Thanh Xuan District Fatherland Front Committee. The special thing about this tournament is that among the participating athletes, in addition to Vietnamese athletes, there are also athletes from China and Laos.

After the opening ceremony, athletes competed in three categories: men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities sent the Badminton Club to participate in this year's tournament with 8 athletes from the faculties of History, Philosophy, Linguistics, Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese. The students of the University (including 4 Chinese students) participated in 2 categories: mixed doubles and women's doubles.

After more than 3 hours of exciting, friendly and united competition with a noble and honest sportsmanship spirit, the Organizing Committee awarded first, second, third and consolation prizes to the teams. The team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities won 01 third prize and 02 consolation prizes for the women's doubles. Although this was not the best achievement of the team, the athletes and students had a very happy time. Sharing after the tournament, student Ton Van Tinh (a Chinese student studying at the Faculty of Linguistics) said, "Although we did not get the best result for the school, we are very happy today. We thank the school and the Organizing Committee for creating all conditions for us to participate in the competition and exchange with other units."

It can be said that the Badminton Friendly Tournament organized by the Fatherland Front of Thanh Xuan District from 2015 to present has been contributing to the close relationship between the District's youth union members and foreign students studying and residing in Thanh Xuan District. With the fourth consecutive participation in the tournament, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is considered one of the most active units, leading the movement activities organized by the Fatherland Front of the District.
