226 outstanding young people at the grassroots level were commended.

On the morning of December 4, 2013, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a ceremony to honor outstanding young people at the grassroots level in 2013.

This year's 226 outstanding young people at the grassroots level are young staff members, students, postgraduate students, and doctoral candidates who have achieved many excellent results in teaching, scientific research, and studies, and have made significant contributions to the Youth Union and Student Association movements of the University. Among the outstanding young people at the grassroots level in 2013, 4 young staff members and 15 students were recognized as Outstanding Young People at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi level.

On behalf of the University's leadership, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector) congratulated and acknowledged the outstanding achievements and contributions made by the lecturers, young staff, students, graduate students, and doctoral candidates in the past academic year. The Vice Rector emphasized that the 226 outstanding young individuals are exemplary role models who have achieved many excellent results in teaching, management, learning, scientific research, youth union and association activities, and social activities within the University. The Vice Rector hoped that all staff and students of the University would continue to strive even harder in their studies and scientific research so that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities would increasingly hold a worthy position in the nation's intellectual, scientific, and technological incubator.

At the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu (Head of the Political and Student Affairs Department) presented a summary report on the outstanding achievements of students and young staff of the university in general, and of exemplary young individuals in particular.

In the 2012-2013 academic year, the Principal awarded certificates of merit to 61 students who achieved excellent academic results, 60 students who were class officers, youth union officers, and student association officers with outstanding achievements in their studies and work, and 56 students from disadvantaged backgrounds who excelled in their studies. Notably, 40 young staff members received the title of outstanding worker at the grassroots level.

Regarding scientific research, in the 2012-2013 academic year, 17.5% of students conducted scientific research with 684 projects. Of these, 2 projects won the "Young Scientific Talent" award from the Ministry of Education and Training; and 5 projects won the "Student Scientific Research" award from Hanoi National University.

For young staff members, the University organized a scientific conference for young staff, creating conditions and encouraging young staff members with master's degrees or higher to register for Group A and B research projects of Hanoi National University and the National Science and Technology Fund. 100% of the basic-level research projects for young staff members are doctoral and master's students.

In addition to their core duties of studying, teaching, supporting teaching, and conducting scientific research, outstanding young people actively participate in, contribute to, and achieve many accomplishments in social, cultural, and sports activities. They organize numerous volunteer and charitable activities: summer volunteer activities with over 400 students participating; blood donation activities resulting in over 400 units of blood…; and participate in cultural and sports activities organized by Hanoi National University and the Ministry of Education and Training. Notably, in the 2012-2013 academic year, the School had 41 students and 5 young staff members who were honored to join the Party, achieving 115% of the target.
