October briefing meeting of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities

On October 3rd, Principal Hoang Anh Tuan chaired the October 2022 school-wide meeting. Attending the meeting were the Vice Principals, Secretaries of the Party branches, Heads of the school's affiliated units, and leaders of the various student organizations.

Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) chaired the October all-university meeting.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thuy (Head of Administration and General Affairs Department) presented a summary report on the results of work in September across all aspects: Party work, organization, and associations; training work: successfully organizing the Party branch congress, consolidating leadership personnel in several faculties, departments, and affiliated units; completing the enrollment of regular undergraduate and postgraduate students in the second phase of 2022, welcoming new students of cohort K67, organizing the orientation week for students; quality assurance work: completing self-assessment reports for several training programs, preparing external evaluation dossiers for several training programs; scientific research, facilities, and finance: basically completing the repair of facilities, etc. The report also outlined the planned activities for October, focusing on several areas: consolidating leadership and management personnel in several faculties/departments and departments; organizing the opening ceremony and freshman orientation day; Organizing international scientific conferences for young researchers and postgraduate students, issuing a system of documents on scientific research work, continuing to sign cooperation agreements with universities in Vietnam and abroad; completing the repair and upgrading of facilities and information technology infrastructure.

Vice Rector Dang Thi Thu Huong shared and noted some additional information regarding training and quality assurance: The 2022 enrollment exceeded targets: the university had nearly 1,800 admitted students (reaching over 107% of the target); 92 applications for doctoral programs, 220 applications for master's programs (admission based on selection criteria), and 53 applications for master's programs (direct admission). The university entrance scores for some majors were among the highest in the country. Regarding accreditation: 12 training programs have completed their self-assessment reports. In October, the supporting documentation will be further finalized to serve accreditation at all levels.

Speaking at the briefing conference, Vice Rector Dao Thanh Truong emphasized that in October, new documents on student scientific research, regulations on managing international conferences, and the establishment of strong research groups will be finalized and issued to align with the science and technology and innovation strategy of the university and Hanoi National University. Simultaneously, the university will promote the publication of articles in international journals. Regarding cooperation and development: focus will be placed on reviewing the effectiveness of cooperation agreements already signed with partners to develop strategies for strengthening domestic and international cooperation.

Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong emphasized the activities implemented during the month regarding scientific research and development cooperation.
Vice Rector Lai Quoc Khanh stated that in early October, the One-Stop software system to support administrative procedures for staff and students will be officially launched; the infrastructure system will be repaired and upgraded, and the wifi system in the entire administrative building, lecture halls, and self-study areas will be improved to best meet the needs of teaching, learning, and information access for lecturers and students. At the same time, the project to build a creative cultural and artistic space for the Social Sciences and Humanities field in Hoa Lac will be finalized.

Representatives from various departments and affiliated units exchanged ideas, discussed, and contributed several suggestions regarding tasks for October, while also demonstrating a high level of consensus and determination to successfully achieve the set targets.

Based on listening to the opinions and exchanges of delegates participating in the Conference, Principal Hoang Anh Tuan concluded by emphasizing several key tasks for October:
- Party and Youth Union work; personnel organization: Organize a Party work conference in October 2022 to disseminate information on several issues and provide training on Party work for cadres and Party members. Assign the Youth Union and Student Association to proactively propose diverse activities to contribute to improving the effectiveness of student management and support. The Personnel Department should promptly carry out the recruitment procedures for staff in accordance with regulations and complete the recruitment of teachers for the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities.
- Strengthen communication efforts to promote and enhance the brand and image of the University, contributing to the promotion of student recruitment, training, cooperation, development, and scientific research. Continue to innovate management methods and the organization of postgraduate training.
- Promote innovation in student counseling and support activities; focus on completing procedures to quickly put into use the one-stop administrative procedure support software for students.
- Finalize the documents on managing scientific research activities to solicit feedback from experts and relevant units so that they can be issued within the first two weeks of October.
- Continue reviewing procedures and proposing measures to support foreign scholars, teachers, and students regarding immigration procedures and work permit applications in Vietnam.
- Heads of units should instruct staff and lecturers to use and maintain the school's facilities and teaching equipment in a safe, economical, and efficient manner.
