VNU-USSH cherishes the past, holds the future
Speaking at the meeting and gratitude, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Party Secretary, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, happily shared the outstanding achievements of the University in 2023 in all fields. He emphasized that 2023 was a successful year for enrollment, the University enrolled over 2,000 students for 27 majors, the training scale at the school reached more than 11,000 students, the largest ever (including nearly 8,000 students, more than 2,000 trainees and PhD students, nearly 1,000 foreign students and trainees). In the context of fierce competition, many educational institutions had great difficulties in enrollment, but the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has exceeded its quota in terms of quantity, the quality of enrollment has always been maintained and increasingly improved, many majors of the University have the highest standard scores in the country.
The school's staff has increased in number and is proud to be the leading educational institution in the country with nearly 80% of staff holding doctoral degrees, 20% holding the title of Professor or Associate Professor. The school firmly adheres to the policy of investing in developing high-quality human resources, attracting 14 Doctors and Associate Professors to work at the school and in the coming time will continue to attract many highly qualified staff and lecturers.
Also in 2023, the School has adjusted the entire training program in the direction of integration, streamlining, efficiency, meeting the requirements of the labor market and international integration; at the same time, opening a number of new training programs. Up to now, most of the school's undergraduate training programs have been accredited by the Ministry of Education and Training, many programs have achieved AUN-QA accreditation certification, and have been highly appreciated by the accreditation council.
Scientific research activities, international publications and development cooperation have also achieved outstanding results, with many topics, projects and seminars successfully organized, proposing many policy advices of high scientific and practical value.
Principal Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized that the philosophy of liberalization and integration based on academic and scholarly foundations has been steadfast in the school's development over the years. The school's prestige and reputation are getting better and better.

Reporting at the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, said that in 2024, the school is determined to improve its facilities, aiming for an image of Hanoi Humanities that both maintains tradition and is innovative and modern. In particular, the school is renovating building A to create a space for displaying and promoting the school's training and enrollment programs, bringing about an image that continues the tradition from the University of General Sciences to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, building a new cultural space in building H and the school yard... In the coming time, the school also plans to build a new building to serve international training, serve the study and accommodation needs of international experts and students, build a self-study space for students... The renovation and new construction aims to build cultural spaces typical of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU and utility areas to bring staff, lecturers and students the best values ​​when working and studying at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.   Moved by the sentiments of generations of teachers, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan shared that the presence of teachers who were leaders through generations is a great encouragement and motivation for the school on the path of development. The school principal expressed his hope that generations of teachers will continue to support, accompany, and always be the support for generations of cadres and lecturers to continue the tradition, build and develop the school.
The achievements that the school has gained in the past time are built on the foundation of 80 years of tradition of the University of Literature, 30 years of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, in which there is great dedication of generations of school leaders; the outstanding efforts of staff, lecturers, students. The intelligence, health, love for science, the dedication of teachers to the cause of education are invaluable assets, a solid foundation for the current generations of staff to preserve and promote, bringing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to new heights.
Belief and aspiration to develop stronger, more comprehensive, more humane
Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu - the first Rector (1995-1999), Chairman of the Scientific Training Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, expressed his joy: "There is no greater joy than when the Humanities house becomes warmer and more spacious". Prof. Phung Huu Phu shared that in recent years, especially in 2023, the social sciences and humanities have faced great challenges. In that context, with the consensus and determination of the school's leadership, VNU-USSH has made steady progress in recent years. On the basis of inheriting the nearly 30-year tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the school's Board of Directors has boldly innovated, both traditional, humanistic and internationalized, bringing VNU-USSH to visible development in all aspects with clear qualitative figures on attracting students, scientific works, international articles, improving the income of staff and lecturers, changing facilities... That is the great effort of the school's leadership to realize the dream of many generations of leaders, staff, lecturers and students about a spacious, modern and humane working environment.
The former leaders shared their emotions when the school not only developed comprehensively but also gradually multiplied the tradition of Humanism. Professor Phung Huu Phu said: “The world can change, technology can constantly develop, but humanity is constant. The more modern it is, the more humane it must be, the more united, democratic, and truly respectful of people. Hanoi Humanism is becoming warmer and warmer, and increasingly bringing to both teachers and students the feeling of coming home, of coming to a warm home.”
Sharing joy with the school's outstanding achievements over the past year, Professor Phung Huu Phu, on behalf of generations of former leaders, shared: "Entering 2024, we hope and believe that, with solidarity and unanimity, our school will make great strides and continue to develop sustainably."
