(SVVN) On the occasion of International Women's Day, many teams, groups, and student clubs of universities in Hanoi sold flowers, greeting cards, handmade items, etc. to raise funds for charity.
At the corner of the C yard of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, young people from the Student Social Work Team were lent tables and chairs by the school to carry out fundraising sales.
“We sell from 9am to 6pm on March 6, 7 and 8. Team members work in shifts to sell products, registering according to their free time,” said Van Nam, a second-year student majoring in Journalism.
Van Nam works directly with team members to sell products.
Speaking to a reporter from the Vietnamese Student Page of Tien Phong newspaper, Captain Dinh Bui My Hanh, a third-year student majoring in Social Work, said that the fundraising event on the occasion of International Women's Day, March 8, this year is called "Thousands of Fragrances".
“Inspired by teachers in the highlands, with their special beauty of resilience and loving hearts, the Team wants to honor the beauty of all the ordinary women around us. Because we believe that, like the colorful beauty of all flowers in the world, each woman has her own beauty that needs to be respected and cherished,” My Hanh expressed.
It is known that a former student of the school who is in the gift business has created conditions for students to become sales collaborators and import goods to sell. The items include wax flowers, teddy bears, cards, with prices ranging from 30,000 to 200,000 VND.
The profits from “Thousands of Fragrances” will be used for the upcoming Winter Warmth 2023 – Spring Volunteerism 2024 campaign of the Team, taking place at Phu Xuan Kindergarten, Phu Xuan commune, Quan Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province.
Here, the Team plans to build a well to overcome the lack of water for daily life at the school in the highlands, erect the school gate and reinforce the fence, and implement the model of "Vegetable Garden for Children". In addition, the Team will also give gifts such as warm clothes for children, school supplies, toys, candy, etc.

Tran Dai Nghia Street opposite the gate of Hanoi University of Science and Technology is the fundraising sales site of members of the Chemistry Volunteer Student Team, School of Chemistry and Life Sciences. It is known that the Team started receiving online orders from March 5 and sold directly on March 7 and 8.
Captain Bui Dinh Duc shared: “Every year, the Team has flower selling activities to raise funds on the occasions of March 8, October 20 and November 20. In addition to the main purpose of creating a budget for the Team’s activities such as recruiting members, picnics, semester events, etc., this is also a source of funding for major volunteer campaigns including Green Summer, Warm Winter and Mid-Autumn Festival”.
Attractive gifts for March 8 - candy bouquet and velvet flowers
In addition to traditional products such as fresh flowers and wax flowers, the booth also has “hot trend” products such as flower bouquets made from candy and velvet flowers. A wax rose costs 15,000 VND, while fresh flower bouquets are the most expensive - over 300,000 VND.
To prepare for the fundraising sale event, the Logistics Team members planned and purchased the necessary supplies two weeks in advance. Once they had everything, the whole Team gathered together and started making the flower products.
Because the store is located near the three schools of Bach - Kinh - Xay, the customers are mainly young people. Some teachers and passersby also stop to buy.
At the gate of the University of Commerce on Ho Tung Mau Street, a group of students from the Business Administration Institute's Volunteer Student Team used cardboard boxes and flower pots to set up a fundraising booth.
The student team sells a variety of products: fresh flowers, artificial flowers, wax flowers, tulips and teddy bears. Not only are these products affordable for students, they also look very beautiful and modern.
“We sell Jellycat and Loopy teddy bears, two gifts that are very popular on social networks recently. The prices of the products range from 20,000 VND to 500,000 VND. There are a variety of products from products for individuals to products for the class,” Team Leader Nguyen Thu Hang excitedly introduced.
The profits from the sales on March 8 will be used to raise funds for the Warm Sunshine 2024 program in Hoa Binh. The activities that the Team plans to carry out include: building youth projects for the locality, giving gifts to disadvantaged households and poor children who overcome difficulties.
To prepare for the fundraising activity, the members had planned before Tet and started implementing it from mid-February. The Logistics Committee was in charge of finding sources of goods; the Human Resources Committee assigned members to import goods, choose points of sale and ask for permission from the school; the members of the Team divided up the sales.
During the three days from March 6 to 8, the Direct Sales Team and the Youth Union of the Institute of Business Administration also encouraged and introduced teachers to come and buy goods to support students. In addition, the Institute's fanpages also shared fundraising posts to spread the information to more people.
