(SVVN) “My parents used to say: You have to travel a lot to realize that there are many people who are worse off than you. You have to be content with what you have now.” These heartfelt words come from Pham Khanh Hoa, a third-year student at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. According to Hoa, after each volunteer trip, she feels more compassionate towards others and life, and finds happiness in learning to see life from multiple perspectives and gaining valuable lessons about love and compassion…
Dedicate your youth to volunteer work.
Pham Khanh Hoa - a third-year student at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
From the moment she entered university, Hoa chose the Student Volunteer Shock Team as the place to dedicate her youth. With her passion for volunteering and her enthusiasm and energy, Hoa was entrusted with the position of Deputy Team Leader of the Student Volunteer Shock Team. Khanh Hoa shared: “Joining Xung Kich was a decision I've never regretted. Among many choices when entering university, I chose Xung Kich as the place to entrust my youth, as a companion. University is an environment that has changed me greatly. I like being lively, I like a dynamic environment, I like social activities, I like interacting and talking with people and helping others, I want to learn… Xung Kich gave me all of the above and more. This “big friend” of mine has grown and matured with me a lot. I have joy, laughter, older brothers and sisters, friends and younger siblings here, so we call Xung Kich “Home”.
Throughout her volunteer career, Khanh Hoa has left her mark and dedication in various volunteer programs in different roles: Team Leader of the "Green Summer 2023" Volunteer Team; Volunteer in the "Green Summer 2022" program in Yen Do commune, Phu Luong district, Thai Nguyen province; Volunteer in the "Springtime of Love 2022" program in Yen Son commune, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province; Head of External Relations for the "Warm Spring" Volunteer Program "Morning in Lang Chang Village" 2023; Volunteer in the "Supporting the National High School Examination 2023-2024" campaign at Khuong Dinh Secondary School; Volunteer in the "Supporting the Examination at the Specialized High School for Social Sciences and Humanities" campaign… In addition, Khanh Hoa is also an active student union officer. My dream is to become a "philanthropist".
Khánh Hòa loves volunteering. Since childhood, she has been easily moved by images of children or people fleeing floods, and those in difficult circumstances. Hòa shared: “There’s a funny story, also a secret of mine, that only a few friends know about my childhood dream. In 5th grade, when I was asked to write about my future dreams, I wrote that I wanted to become a ‘philanthropist.’ Looking back now, I feel lucky that I have, am, and will continue to fulfill my childhood dream. I really enjoy volunteering, I love volunteering. My family, parents, and loved ones around me are also a source of motivation and support for my activities. My parents once said: ‘You have to travel a lot to know that there are many people who are in more difficult situations than you. You have to be content with what you have now.’ I love volunteering even more because I am always surrounded by people who wholeheartedly love and understand the work I am doing.”

Human kindness remains after acts of giving.
After each volunteer trip, Hoa has different memories and emotions. She feels more compassion for people and for life. “Giving is receiving. I receive more than I give. I receive small gifts from the children in the local area where I volunteer, I receive handshakes from the elderly, I receive thoughtful and attentive hospitality from the locals, I receive joy and laughter from the children, and lessons through stories about unfortunate lives… I learn many things, I learn to see life from multiple perspectives, I learn lessons about love and compassion…”, Hoa shared.
Khanh Hoa receives a Certificate of Commendation from the Hanoi Youth Union.
Continue to pursue the noble dream of "Volunteering".
When facing difficulties, Hoa often turns to friends and family for support. She feels fortunate and appreciates her teammates who always listen, share, and help her emotionally. Throughout her studies and activities, Hoa has always had her family as her support system: “My biggest motivation is my family: my father always watches over me, my mother is always there to support me every step of the way, and my younger brother always encourages, checks on me, and cares for me.”
Khánh Hoà shared her future plans: “I will continue pursuing my childhood dream alongside my studies and career development. After some time working, I found another joy; I am trying to learn and improve my knowledge in the field of Event Organization. As someone who can't sit still, I enjoy working in events, volunteering, and bringing joy and benefits to others. I hope that in the future, my plans will go in the direction I have set, and I wish for everything to go smoothly, and that even if there are difficulties, I will overcome them as easily as possible. I hope that everyone will continue to trust, accept, and love me.”
