Meeting with Prof. Ko Kwang Min from Hanyang University (South Korea)

On March 20th, 2018, Prof. Dr Tran Viet Nghia (USSH’s Dean of the Office for Cooperation and Development) welcomed and worked with Assoc. Prof. Dr Ko Kwang Min (President of the Institute for International Education – Hanyang University, South Korea) to discuss about mutual cooperation in the coming time.

Prof. Ko Kwang Min introduced about Hanyang University. It was established in 1939 and is ranked the 155th in the QS world university rankings 2017, and considered one of the leading private universities in South Korea. It has around 2.500 regular foreign students. Its strengths include teaching Korean, Japanese and Chinese languages. Prof. Ko Kwang Min said Hanyang University highly values international cooperation and wishes to receive Vietnamese students.

Assoc. Prof. Dr Tran Viet Nghia in return introduced about USSH: The University has over 300 foreign partners, and trains more than 1.000 international students. Its Faculty of Oriental Studies is renowned for training Korean culture and language, and has been teaching the language for Samsung Electronics’ employees in Vietnam. USSH is also a partner of many Korean universities with which it annually holds student exchange programs. Annually, USSH’s Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language receives foreign students from Chinese and Japanese universities enrolling in short-term Vietnamese language courses. It is training more and more post-graduate foreign students.

USSH and Hanyang University were supposed to sign an official memorandum of understanding soon, which would serve as a basis for more specific training and academic cooperation.
