Meeting with the delegation from Zacatecas University (Mexico)

At the meeting, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh extended his greetings to the first Mexican guests visiting USSH. The Rector introduced about the University’s history of creation and development, with its successor being the General University, one the first universities in Vietnam after the country gained independence in 1945. USSH has trained many outstanding politicians and managers and over 10 foreign ambassadors to Vietnam. USSH hoped to receive more visiting Mexican teachers and students in the future.

In response, Dr. Antonio Guzmán Fernández said he highly valued his first visit to USSH. He said to increase the number of Vietnamese students at Zacatecas University, he was willing to offer short-term fellowships to 5 students majoring social sciences and humanities for 1 year at Zacatecas University. In addition, he suggested establishing a Department of Vietnamese Language and Studies at Zacatecas University. He also invited Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh and USSH’s staff and lecturers to visit and co-hold a conference there as soon as possible.

In reply, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh accepted the invitation and promised to come to Mexico in the first quarter of 2019. The two universities would also discuss ideas about a potential conference. He said the two sides share many helpful similarities and hoped the bilateral relationship be further consolidated and developed.

The Autonomous University of Zacatecas is a Mexican public research university founded in 1959 and based in the city of Zacatecas, but with several campuses across the state. The university is divided into the following academic areas: Art and Culture, Basic Sciences, Health Sciences, Engineering, Humanities and Education, Social, Economic and Administrative Sciences and Agricultural Sciences.
