Rector Pham Quang Minh briefly introduced about USSH. Established in 1945, it is currently the leading university in Vietnam in terms of social sciences and humanities. It offers 24 bachelor's programs, 40 master's programs and 31 doctoral programs, ranging from basic sciences such as History, Literature, Sino-Nom, Linguistics and Philosophy to applied majors such as Journalism, Public relations, Hotel and Tourism Management, and Social work. USSH's Faculty of Oriental Studies, offering Indian studies, currently hosts the largest number of students.
Next, the two leaders discussed about the problems faced by social sciences today, including the previously developed but now largely underrated majors such as Philosophy, History and Literature. Some new majors such as Political Science, Anthropology and Religious Studies have not received adequate attention due to their relatively minor popularity. Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh hoped the two universities would cooperate to solve these problems.
Assoc. Prof. Dr Kalyani Unkule expressed her appreciation for the development of Indian Studies at USSH. She proposed developing an Indian cultural center at USSH and a Vietnamese cultural center at Jindal Global University.
At the end of the meeting, leaders of the two sides signed on the Memorandum of friendship and cooperation. Accordingly, the two sides agreed to promote cultural exchanges, common research projects and reciprocal scholarships.
